As a Staff Software Engineer II, you’ll drive projects and shape the future of our technology, directly impacting millions of users by enhancing the safety and efficiency of our advanced systems. By enhancing real-time data processing, your innovations will directly improve critical infrastructure, leading to safer, more efficient public services that millions rely on daily.

What you’ll do

    • Drive the next generation of technology by owning the software architecture and leading the design of scalable solutions that meet complex challenges
    • Lead teams in deploying and optimizing large-scale models with Apache Spark, Databricks, and MLFlow, tackling challenges of real-time data processing in highly distributed environments.
    • Manage and coordinate across multiple teams, serving as a force multiplier by driving technical leadership and ensuring the success of 20+ engineers.
    • Work closely with teams of software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to align projects with business objectives.
    • Design and build scalable, highly available, and resilient applications using cutting-edge cloud technologies. Your work will directly contribute to improving the lives of people through better and smarter technology.
    • Guide and mentor engineers across teams, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes learning and growth.
    • Participate in all phases of the project lifecycle, from gathering requirements and designing solutions to building interfaces and deploying systems into production.

What you’ll need

    • You have a proven track record as a senior-level software engineer with significant experience in machine learning, computer vision, data engineering, and large-scale distributed systems.
    • Your expertise in programming, system design, and cloud technologies allows you to create systems that handle vast amounts of data reliably and efficiently
    • You’re a natural leader with a knack for guiding & impacting teams through complex projects, always driving towards excellence in engineering and operational best practices.
    • Your strategic vision will guide our teams toward new opportunities, directly influencing the company’s growth and success in the competitive tech landscape.
    • You thrive in diverse environments, working seamlessly with legal, design, operations, and product teams to deliver high-quality results.
    • This position is based in Amsterdam. Therefore, we can only accept candidates that already live in or are in the process of relocating to Amsterdam area.

Meet your team

We are the ADAS & ADS Product Unit, leading the production of TomTom’s HD maps and ADAS technology.  
In a diverse team of applied scientists, engineers, data scientists, and more, equipped with a broad array of expertise, you’ll collaborate on groundbreaking location-based technologies and applications.  
More specifically, you’ll be at the forefront of the creation of advanced HD maps. You’ll also help update these in real-time, ensuring our maps are pushing the world forward instantly. These maps will then go on to empower the largest car manufacturers, transportation giants, and major tech companies around the world.
