At Swave Photonics, we’re not just imagining the future — we’re engineering it. We're a fabless semiconductor company pioneering holographic chips based on our proprietary diffractive photonics technology. Our mission is to empower display manufacturers and system innovators to leap forward with ultra-high-resolution, true holographic displays.
Imagine a world where digital content floats in front of your eyes, where digital interactions are seamlessly integrated into your surroundings, and AR glasses amplify your senses with real-time AI intelligence — all while being light, fashionable, and personalized to you. That’s the future we’re building. Join us at the forefront of this revolution.
To help realize this vision, we’re opening a position of Digital Design/RTL Engineer. As part of our IC Design team, you will contribute to IC design and integration, interacting with physical design, analog design and the project lead to produce world changing display ICs.
Role and responsibilities:
- You will be involved in specification, implementation and verification of next-generation digital controllers for Swave's SLMs and processing units.
- RTL design of IP blocks from state machines to graphics processing.Simulation and verification of RTL blocks and toplevels using industry standard practices e.g. UVM.
- Liaising with the analog and algorithm teams to optimise the digital implementations.
- You will report to the VP IC Design.
Qualifications:
- You hold a Master degree in Electronics Engineering, or you can show proven experience.
- You have excellent knowledge of Verilog&SystemVerilog and RTL design practices.
- You have a strong understanding of digital logic, finite state machines, pipelines, memory interfaces, and SoC bus protocols.
- You have experience in RTL design for mixed-signal ICs and are familiar with the design needs for design-for-test (DFT).
- You have experience in writing synthesis constraints that match your design.
- You have experience with EDA tools for simulation, code coverage analysis, synthesis, formal verification and linting.
- You have experience with verification flows and building UVM-based testbenches.
- You have experience in simulating RTL and netlists with annotated timing.
- You are familiar with scripting tools like Python and TCL for automation and matlab for prototyping.
- You are able to plan and execute according to tight schedules: you thrive in a fast-paced start-up context.
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to excel as a true team player.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
What we offer you:
- A competitive compensation package tailored to your experience, knowledge and impact.
- An environment where you will work at the cutting edge, alongside pioneers in chip design, compute, diffractive optics, physics and semiconductors, backed by seasoned leaders and engineers with decades of industry experience.
- An informal and vibrant company culture built on authenticity, mutual trust, openness, purpose, and creativity. We’re a small team with big dreams and a bias for action that knows how to celebrate the wins.
- Flexibility and a results-driven culture give you space to work — and live — at your best.
