Commercial Business Analyst
THE ROLE
The Commercial Business Analyst is part of the Business Analytics team within the Product department and reports to the Senior Manager Business Analytics. You will work closely with a Senior Retail Planner, supporting the business with data-driven insights and planning.
This is a hybrid role working closely with merchandising, sales, finance and commercial teams. You will act as a business partner across functions, translating data into actionable insights and supporting decision-making.
In this role, you will analyse business performance, contribute to financial and merchandise planning, and identify risks and opportunities across channels. Your work will directly support the optimisation of sales, margin, and inventory performance.
The role offers broad exposure across the organisation and requires a hands-on, proactive profile who can operate independently while collaborating effectively with stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Merchandising & Commercial analytics
- Act as a business partner to the merchandising team, providing insights on sell-in, product performance, and range planning
- Own target setting and maintain range planning tools and templates
- Ensure data accuracy (e.g. orderbook) to support reliable planning and decision-making
- Own and maintain pricing structures (local currency price lists), including FX monitoring and pricing review
- Analyse and report on development going-in margin performance versus last year and target, highlighting key variances and drivers
Planning & Forecasting
- Own the end-to-end wholesale off-price planning and forecasting cycle
- Contribute to long-term business planning and identify commercial opportunities to drive performance
- Provide stock position analysis and insights to support merchandising and buying decisions
- Partner with the Senior Retail Planner on retail planning and performance analysis
Reporting & Business Intelligence
- Deliver ad hoc analyses and cross-functional reporting to support commercial and product-related decision-making
- Prepare business updates and deep-dive analyses for stakeholders, focusing on risks, opportunities, and performance drivers
- Support automation and improvement of reporting and planning processes in collaboration with IT
THE PROFILE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Fashion, or a related field
- 5–7 years of experience in merchandising or commercial planning
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Advanced Excel skills (including complex formulas, pivot tables)
- Experience with BI tools (e.g. Qlik Sense) is a plus
- Solid understanding of retail KPIs, including sales, margin, and inventory performance
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Structured and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Proactive, hands-on, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, data-driven environment
- Fluent in English (written and verbal)
