About the Role

Zoī is seeking a Legal Counsel who will work hand-in-hand with the General Counsel to structure the legal foundations of the company on our high priority topics: GDPR compliance and intellectual property. You will provide a range of legal, strategic and proactive advice to our teams across the full scope of product development, medical research, and technological innovation.  You will juggle a large number of complex and sophisticated legal questions, with a steep learning curve. We are therefore looking for someone with a unique mix of humility, curiosity, organization & structure, creativity and keen sense of analysis, as well as a dynamic and entrepreneurial approach to work. You will be challenged, but you will have a lot of fun in the process.

This is not a typical position within a typical company; this is a unique opportunity for a Legal Counsel and DPO to join an innovative project at the crossroads of the physical and digital worlds, and provide a material contribution to the ultimate goal of offering preventive health services to as many people as possible.

Main Missions

    • Support daily activity in IT/IP and GDPR areas, providing a range of legal, strategic, and proactive advice;
    • Assume the role of Data Protection Officer at Zoī;
    • Ensure GDPR compliance for the company by helping navigate an innovative domain, which often raises unprecedented and complex questions;
    • Drive associated risk mapping and propose pragmatic solutions to prevent them and always stay ahead of the curve;
    • Secure compliance of research projects in the health domain;
    • Negotiate and draft strategic contracts for the company, including technology agreements;
    • Manage the portfolio of trademarks and domain names;
    • Handle potential IP pre-litigation and litigation;
    • Train Zoī’s employees on GDPR.

Ideal Candidate Profile

    • Master of Law, Bar examination preferred.
    • 4+ years of experience in protection of personal data;
    • Taste for technological innovation and legal work in fast-paced & agile environments;
    • Experience in the health sector and/or technology sector preferred;
    • Good knowledge of IT processes and basic notions of computer security;
    • Excellent legal and commercial judgment, communication, interpersonal skills, and impeccable writing style;
    • Strong pedagogy to make complex subjects understandable and intelligible to non-lawyers;
    • Ability to lead projects autonomously;
    • Fluency in French and English;
    • Humble, curious, structured, organized, creative, analytical, dynamic, and entrepreneurial.
