About this Role

As a Senior Data Engineer at Zoī, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data infrastructure. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and managing the data architecture, infrastructure, and tools needed to store, process, and analyze large volumes of data and enable data-driven decision-making within Zoī.

This position demands a high level of technical expertise and a strong commitment to data quality and integrity. You'll be a central part of the highly committed Research & Development team where you'll collaborate with software developers, dev ops, data scientists as well as with members of Zoī's cross-disciplinary team of medical doctors, product managers, and support functions.

Main Missions

    • Data Architecture: Design and construct high-performing data architectures, including databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
    • Database Design and Management: Design, implement, and manage databases to store structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data efficiently.
    • Optimize database perfromance and ensure data integrity alongside the infrastructure team
    • Data Integration: Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and build out new API integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.
    • Data Transformation and Processing: transform raw data into a usable format for analysis, including data cleansing, normalization, and aggregation,
    • Performance Tuning: Implement systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it.
    • Collaboration: Work with data scientists, analysts, and business teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization.
    • Knowledge sharing: Document your data processes, data flows and system configurations, for team-wide interoperability 
    • Innovation: Research, recommend, and implement advanced data technologies and innovative approaches to solve complex business problems.
    • Compliance and Security: Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.

Ideal Candidate Profile

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Data Engineering role.
    • Excellent proficiency in Python, AWS, ETL required
    • Knowledge of Kafka, Airflow would be beneficial
    • Previous experience in healthcare, including knowledge of Heatlhcare API & data formats (HL7, DCOM, FHIR, HPRIM, LDT, AST, Edifact and SNOMED-CT and LOINC catalogs highly appreciated)
    • Good knowledge of data privacy & governance best practises is a strong plus
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
