We are seeking an experienced DB2/zOS Specialist for an opportunity with one of our clients, active in the financial sector. This role involves optimizing, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-performance DB2 environments in a critical, fast-paced, 24/7 system. You will work alongside a team of experts, leveraging your deep knowledge of DB2 to drive system performance, solve complex problems, and implement cutting-edge DB2 features and tools.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and optimize DB2 system performance, ensuring high availability and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot complex DB2 issues, including SQL performance, system failures, and timeouts.
- Implement and enhance DB2 features and tools to optimize database functionality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve database designs.
- Mentor junior team members and guide on best practices for DB2 system management.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience with DB2 for z/OS, including performance tuning, dynamic SQL optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Advanced English proficiency (minimum B2 level in speaking, writing, listening, and reading).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in the financial sector, ideally with a large bank.
- Expertise in DB2 system monitoring, performance diagnostics, and issue resolution.
- Hands-on experience with DB2 Analytics Accelerator (IDAA) and RACF security management.
- Strong background in SQL access path analysis, indexing, and performance optimization.
- Proven ability to resolve complex DB2 application-related issues, including system hangs, abends, and deadlocks.
- Familiar with new DB2 features and capable of integrating them into production systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
- REXX programming knowledge for automation and efficiency improvements.
- Experience with ITWS scheduling tools.
- Experience in guiding teams or mentoring colleagues in DB2 best practices.
