ABOUT THE TEAM
The Team Lead is an integral, hands-on member of the team, a player‑coach who works side by side on daily operations and shares ownership of outcomes, planning capacity and prioritizing work to balance BAU with strategic projects. Leading and contributing to incident response and running post‑mortems that drive durable fixes. The role partners closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Onboarding to navigate trade‑offs with a merchant‑first lens. The candidate ensures governance and audit readiness through policies, controls, SOPs, and evidence; drives process excellence and automation. The Team Lead oversees tooling and vendor ROI with structured change management and training. They build and fosters an inclusive, high‑trust culture with strong knowledge management, ongoing upskilling, and effective coaching and performance management. Finally, the Team Lead hires and onboards effectively to build and strengthen the team.
What your work will look like:
- Lead and coach a team of risk analysts: hiring, onboarding, training, performance feedback, and career development. Coordinate schedules and task distribution to ensure coverage.
- Oversee day‑to‑day risk monitoring and investigations across channels, act as escalation point for complex cases and incident manager for payments risk/fraud events, including post‑mortems and structural fixes.
- Govern underwriting execution and due diligence quality, ensure compliance with regulatory, card network, and internal policy requirements.
- Drive cross‑functional resolution with fraud, disputes, onboarding, and compliance, lead knowledge‑sharing (post‑mortems, playbooks, knowledge base).
- Oversee the execution of the fraud risk strategy, including proactively monitoring performance, reducing false positive rates, and providing regular progress and status reports to the line manager.
- Establish KPIs and executive reporting, ensure audit readiness and policy adherence, support regulatory and scheme audits.
- Build external relationships with card networks, risk vendors, and peer acquirers, stay ahead of emerging fraud trends and regulatory changes, translate into actionable policies.
- Act as a multiplier by sharing expertise and supporting more junior roles in daily operational risk activities.
What you need to be successful in this role:
- 5–8+ years in acquiring/payments risk with demonstrable results reducing losses at scale, experience across multiple geographies/verticals a plus.
- Deep expertise in card scheme programs and merchant risk typologies, transaction monitoring, chargeback strategy, and credit risk for delivery/refund liability
- Advanced analytical capability (SQL required, Python/R or similar a plus), comfort designing experiments and measuring causal impact.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder influence, experience presenting to executives and external parties (networks, auditors, regulators).
- Fluent English, German or Danish a plus.
