Hybrid

Tsugu Ventures is part of the Tsugu founder office and is a specialist venture capital platform built around two thematic pillars: Play (video gaming) and Work (enterprise technology). We run a hybrid strategy, combining fund LP commitments with direct investments and co-investments within each pillar. This allows us to build deep sector expertise while maintaining flexibility across investment types, stages, and structures.

The role

We are looking for a driven and intellectually curious Venture Analyst to join the Venture team in Los Angeles.

You will work closely across all active workstreams: fund manager diligence, deal sourcing (fund and direct/co-investments), full due diligence, IC preparation, and portfolio monitoring. We have a hybrid set-up with an office location in Los Angeles, Zug/Zurich and the ability to work in co-working spaces across the globe.

Responsibilities

Fund Manager Selection

  • Screen and assess fund managers, supporting the full diligence process from initial review to final recommendation

  • Prepare IC memos for manager selection and present findings together with the team in the IC

Co-Investment & Direct Investment Support

  • Support deal sourcing across both pillars, including market mapping and thematic research to identify high-potential opportunities

  • Participate in the full due diligence process end-to-end: market analysis, competitive landscape, financial modelling, scenario analysis, and business assessment

  • Prepare IC memos for investment decisions: covering both equity and structured/alternative instruments (eg project and revenue based financings) and present findings together with the team in the IC

Thematic Research

  • Conduct ongoing research across Play (gaming studios, platforms, infrastructure, consumer apps) and Work (AI, SaaS, cybersecurity, cloud, digital transformation) to sharpen investment theses and surface emerging sub-themes

Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track portfolio company and fund performance, flag material developments, and support periodic reporting to the team and stakeholders

Contribute to building our data and technology infrastructure

  • Help evaluate, implement and refine the tools and systems that underpin how we source, assess and monitor investments, as we build a best-in-class operating platform for the team

Who we are looking for

We are not looking for a conventional early-stage VC analyst. Our investment approach is rooted in financial rigor, structured thinking, and an appreciation for risk-adjusted returns. If you think about investments in terms of downside scenarios, payback periods, and capital structures as much as upside multiples, you will fit right in. We will train you on the specifics of our sectors and our strategy.

Must-Haves

  • Degree from a top-tier university in Finance, Economics or other quantitative field with a strong academic track record

  • Prior experience or internships in investment banking, private equity, leveraged finance/private credit, or venture/growth capital

  • Familiarity with fund performance metrics (TVPI, IRR, DPI) and investment structures (equity, convertible notes, revenue-based financing, project finance)

  • Strong financial modelling skills with the ability to build, stress-test, and communicate a model with confidence

  • Strong visual communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, structured slides or diagrams

  • Genuine interest in both pillars: video gaming and enterprise technology

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; able to structure and present complex ideas concisely

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a “get-things-done mindset”

  • A team player who works hard, takes ownership, and knows how to enjoy the journey

Nice-to-Haves

  • Deep domain knowledge and existing network in enterprise technology and gaming industries or broader VC/startup ecosystems.
