We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Feedback and Resolution organization. This engineering team of around 30 people owns a critical platform for collecting, processing, and resolving customer feedback to enhance map quality across all TomTom products, while enabling Map Operations teams to address map issues efficiently at scale.
What you will do:
- You manage multiple engineering teams directly with other managers and Staff Engineers reporting to you. You are accountable for the outcomes achieved by your teams.
- You use your technical background primarily to set direction, evaluate designs, grow senior talent, and challenge decisions where it matters most.
- You work directly with Management (Director, VP, Senior Managers), senior technical experts (Staff Engineers) and Product Managers to simplify complexity and deliver prioritized, incremental product outcomes with measurable customer and operational impact
- You set guidelines for all developers in our department by aligning with peers, the industry, and tech leads. You add value to our software engineering practices by challenging and improving the process and applying best practices from the industry.
- You identify growth opportunities, empowering team members to take ownership and coaching them to success and do better every day.
- You define a team topology and staffing plan that sets the team up for success. The growth of team members, team health, career planning, and performance management play a supporting role here.
- Proactively identify and mitigate technical, operational, and organizational risks while balancing competing priorities.
- Champion engineering excellence through strong architecture, code quality, monitoring, metrics, and automated testing.
- Build a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement while leading teams through change.
What you'll need:
- 8+ years of experience in software development, including 2+ years of experience managing other managers.
- Strong software engineering background with experience in distributed systems and data intensive platforms, combined with the ability to apply technical judgment to evaluate designs, guide architectural decisions, and grow senior engineering talent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
- Strong coaching and mentoring mindset with a track record of developing senior engineers and engineering leaders.
- Passion for customer experience, operational excellence, and building systems that scale without unnecessary complexity.
