Brand & Marketing Intern
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
CRO – Marketing /
Intern /
Hybrid
TomTom is looking for a curious, ambitious and hands-on Brand & Marketing Intern to join our Central Marketing team for at least six months.
You’ll join us at an interesting moment. We are working on how we position TomTom and tell one clear and compelling story about who we are, what we offer and where we are going.
TomTom has evolved into a B2B software and AI-powered location technology company. One of our priorities is making sure the way we present ourselves reflects the company we are today and our ambitions for the future.
You’ll work closely with our external brand strategy consultant and the Central Marketing team on this assignment. This gives you the opportunity to see first-hand how company positioning and a brand narrative are developed, challenged, aligned and ultimately brought to life.
We’re looking for someone who combines strategic, forward-looking thinking with a real roll-up-your-sleeves attitude. Someone who enjoys thinking about where a brand should go but is just as happy diving into the details and helping make it happen.
You won't be watching from the sidelines. We want you to contribute, ask questions, bring ideas and develop your own point of view.

What you'll do:
Your focus will be supporting our brand repositioning work, from research and strategy development through to activation.
Depending on where we are in the project, you’ll:
- Research competitors, customers, technology trends and how other B2B technology companies position themselves.
- Help analyze existing TomTom messaging, presentations, websites and marketing materials.
- Support stakeholder interviews and workshops, from preparation to capturing insights and following up on actions.
- Bring structure to research, feedback and input from different teams across TomTom.
- Support the development of our company narrative, messaging and proof points.
- Help turn strategic thinking into practical marketing materials and guidance that teams can use.
- Create and support presentations for senior stakeholders and other teams across the company.
- Work with different marketing disciplines to help bring the new story to life consistently.
- Help coordinate project timelines, deliverables and feedback rounds.
- Support the wider Central Marketing team when there are opportunities to get involved and learn.
What you need:
We don’t expect you to arrive knowing everything. We do want you to be curious, proactive and ready to learn.
You’re probably a good fit if:
- You are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, communications, branding, business or a related field.
- You will be enrolled in a (Dutch) university during the entire duration of the internship.
- If you are a non-European student, your university is able to provide us with a Nuffic agreement or another three-parties agreement.
- You are located maximum 1h from Amsterdam and available in coming to the office twice a week.
- You’re interested in brands, technology and what makes companies stand out.
- You naturally think about what’s next. You like connecting the dots, spotting opportunities and developing a point of view.
- At the same time, you’re hands-on. If something needs researching, organizing, writing or building, you’re happy to roll up your sleeves and get started.
- You can move between the bigger picture and the details without losing sight of either.
- You’re curious and ask good questions rather than simply accepting the first answer.
- You take initiative and don’t need every step of an assignment spelled out for you.
- You communicate clearly and have a good feel for stories, language and presentations.
- You’re organized and comfortable working with different people and priorities.
- You can work independently but genuinely enjoy collaborating with others.
- You have a good command of written and spoken English.
Previous marketing or communications experience is a plus, but it isn’t what will make the difference for us. Your mindset, curiosity and willingness to get involved matter more.
What will you get from us:
- If you are located outside of Amsterdam, you are eligible for an NS business card to be used to commute to the office.
- 1100 euro monthly as salary based on a 40h/week.
- Around 10 days of payed leave during the 6 months internship.
This is an opportunity to learn by doing.
You’ll get close to a real company positioning project and work alongside an experienced external brand strategist and our Central Marketing team. You’ll see how research becomes strategy; how different perspectives are brought together and how a company story moves from an idea on a page to something people across the business can use.
You’ll also get exposure to different parts of TomTom and work with people across marketing, communications, sales, product and leadership.
And we want it to work both ways. We expect you to learn from us, but we also want to learn from you. Bring your ideas, challenge our thinking and tell us when you see something differently.
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
