Join TomTom as a Research Intern in our UX Research team. You will collaborate with five UX Researchers to provide user insights that guide product direction and design, particularly in map visualizations for Automotive and Apps. Your research will influence various TomTom location technology products, focusing on user interactions with navigation apps and assisted driving systems.

The internship aims to enhance your skills in user research through active collaboration with product, design, and engineering teams. Key projects may involve supporting a rolling research program, designing and executing original studies, developing user personas, and assisting the Automotive research team to improve efficiency.

You will learn to present your findings compellingly to stakeholders across different business units and gain hands-on experience with diverse research methods to refine products and enhance user experiences. We seek a self-starter and proactive team player who can coordinate large international research projects.

What you'll do

    • Support cross-functional teams with existing research programs (e.g. attend meetings for planning of the test scopes, coordinate the scheduling for the usability tests, create research materials, join and occasionally facilitate the sessions with a Designer or Product Manager).
    • Design and execute an original end to end research study from planning, recruitment, data gathering, analysis, and presentation of findings.
    • Support the development of user personas, and/or support the B2B research team increase their organizational and operational efficiency.
    • Participate in UXR team rituals, as well as Product Organization meetings.

What you'll need

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a concentration in Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, Industrial Design, Human Behavior disciplines, or other related disciplines.
    • Ideally, you’re interested in how people navigate vehicles in complex environments, interact with vehicle software and/or technological developments of the Automotive industry, such as AI, autonomous driving, voice assistance, electric cars, etc. Interest in research methodologies is a plus.
    • You must be based in the Netherlands and be able to travel to the Amsterdam office twice per week.
    • Strong conceptual, verbal, and visual communication skills.
    • Working fluency in English.
    • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative user research methods, such as usability testing, contextual interviews, observational studies, surveys, usage analytics, etc.
    • Strong interpersonal skills: align, collaborate, engage, convince.
    • A team player who is also confident working independently but not afraid to reach out for support and guidance.
    • Solid time-management and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks or projects.  
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, collaborative tools such as Miro and Figma, survey tools, and online usability testing tools.
