The impact you'll make
- Lead UX Design and Research to ensure high-quality UX delivery and consistency, and together with the UX team deliver navigation experiences that meet the needs of APAC drivers, especially in Japan and South Korea.
- Hands-on design deliverables, defining how product features work, developing interactive solutions and models, solving user, business and technical problems, developing wireframes and prototypes to influence product requirements, specifications and roadmaps.
- Collaborate with global Product Teams to align product ambition and strengthen cross-functional collaboration.
- Act as a strategic partner to PMs, Designers, Engineers, and client-facing teams in APAC to deliver meaningful insights and designs that impact business outcomes.
- Raise awareness of driver needs in APAC and Europe teams and plan and lead test studies with Product Team to safeguard quality.
- Drive continuous product improvement and innovation through thought leadership.
- Work independently with minimal guidance and uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products/services or processes.
- Resolve complex problems or problems where precedent may not exist.
- Maintain an active eye on the competitive market including new product releases and regional and global trends.
- Manage a small team, overseeing budget, performance, and team results.
- Adjusts departmental plans and priorities to tackle resource and operational challenges.
What you'll need
- Japanese PR or Citizens only.
- 10+ years of User Experience Design and Research. Leading UX projects with demonstratable impact. Experience with planning, designing, and conducting UX research using different methods and tools, including field research, usability testing, and surveys.
- 3+ years of experience in managing and coaching UX designers and researchers, providing guidance and support, coordinating team activities and assigning tasks and goals, ensuring that results are delivered on time and on target.
- The ability to organize workshops and design sprints to make user insights tangible.
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
- Experience working in with geographically dispersed teams
- The ability to manage ambiguity, lead design and research efforts autonomously, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- You reside in the Tokyo metro area and you are able to work two days a week from the office
- Proficient in Japanese and English: Spoken and written
- Driver’s license with 3-5 year driving experience
- Passion for driving and road trips
- Able and willing to travel internationally
- Previous experience in Automotive industry
