To drive our ambitious vision, we’re opening a position of Instrumentation Engineer. As part of our physics and optics team, you will play an important role in shaping our characterization and measurement setups. 

Role and responsibilities
- You will play an active role in planning, designing and building electronic, optical and opto-mechanical characterization and demo setups.
- You will be responsible for assembling and maintaining various optical and electronic modules, including development of software packages, to integrate them in a fully functional system. 
- We expect you to take an active role in the day-to-day operation of Swave’s labs, such as handling orders, material and supply management for multiple electronic and optical labs and our demo room.
- You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure the systems meet technical and project requirements. You will liaise with and be the point of contact for subcontractors.

Qualifications
- You hold a Bachelors/Masters degree in EE or computer science with hands-on optics experience. 
- Preferably you have about 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- You have a strong track record in developing software in Python and C/C++.
- You have hands-on industrial experience with embedded systems, instrumentation and/or metrology.
- You show a strong interest in optic and its applications. 
- Bonus points for experience with 3D CAD tools and rapid prototyping.
- You are meticulous and have a structured way of approaching delicate tasks.
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment and you can easily adapt to changing circumstances. 
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to excel as a true team player.
- You're fluent in English, both spoken and written.

Location
Our headquarters are in the vibrant city of Leuven, Belgium. While the magic happens on-site, some remote work options are available.
