We are looking for a Backend Tech Lead to join our team and spearhead the design, development, and evolution of our software applications. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in setting technical direction, guiding our Kotlin backend developers, and collaborating closely with architects to build scalable, secure, and high-performance systems. Your day to day will include:
- Guiding the Kotlin backend developers in designing, developing, and maintaining software applications, while setting technical direction and upholding code quality standards
- Collaborating with the software architect to define and evolve system architecture for enhanced scalability, performance, and security
- Actively engaging in coding, code review, and the enforcement of best practices
- Collaborate closely with our Customer Support (L1), Infrastructure Support (L2), and Application Support (L3) teams to efficiently manage escalations- helping identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational issues that keep our clients running smoothly
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure reliable 24/7 client support paired with appropriate compensation for your time and expertise
- Mentoring and coaching team members to promote continuous learning and growth
- Efficiently managing tasks and providing technical insights to ensure on-time and on-scope project delivery
- Maintaining consistent communication with the Project Manager to ensure alignment and shared objectives
- Staying up-to-date with the latest Java, Kotlin, backend technologies, frameworks, and tools, and introducing relevant technologies to enhance development processes
What makes you thrive here:
- Proficiency in Java ecosystem, familiarity with Java 17, 21
- Kotlin is our choice of language on the JDK, so experience with it is a huge plus
- Familiarity with back-end frameworks such as Spring, Micronaut, or similar technologies
- Experience with AI-powered coding tools/agents
- A strong OOP mindset and a commitment to upholding SOLID principles
- Hands-on experience with SQL or NoSQL databases
- A genuine interest in staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends
- A passion for writing clean code; if you're an Uncle Bob fan, you're more than welcome
- Expertise in Containerization and Kubernetes (that would be a significant advantage)
- Familiarity with at least one public cloud provider - our focus is on AWS, but we are also using GCP and Azure if these fit better to our needs
- A mindset that encourages innovation, inspiring team members to bring forth fresh ideas and adapt to changing industry landscapes
- A keen eye for the latest and greatest trends in the world of backend development
- The ability to provide constructive feedback to team members, creating a space for personal and professional growth
- A commitment to always having your project mates' backs and offering a helping hand when they need it
- At least an intermediate level of English language skills since our team operates internationally
