System Engineer, Technology Trading FX | SEB, Sweden

Our department is part of Technology Trading and consists of around 60 professionals responsible for the development and maintenance of systems supporting FX trading. We operate in a fast-paced environment where time-to-market, stability and quality are essential to business success.
About the role
As a System Engineer in our FX Trading development team, you will work hands-on with the Murex platform, developing new data flows and contributing to a stable, scalable and high-performing trading environment. Using a structured and engineering-focused approach, you will build robust and maintainable solutions that support both current business needs and the platform’s long-term development.
Working closely with colleagues across technology and business, you will analyze and improve application workflows, strengthen system integrations and drive performance enhancements across the platform. A significant part of the role involves investigating and resolving complex production issues, supporting platform upgrades and identifying opportunities to improve operational stability through monitoring, automation and continuous improvement.
You will play an important role in ensuring the reliability, scalability and performance of the platform while working with technologies such as PostgreSQL, Linux and modern DevOps practices. At the same time, we are exploring how AI and new engineering tools can simplify workflows and improve operational insight. We are therefore looking for someone who is curious, eager to challenge existing ways of working and motivated to help move both the platform and the team forward.
Your background and skills
You have experience working with financial systems, trading platforms or risk management environments. You are comfortable combining development with platform operations and enjoy solving complex technical challenges. You work in a structured way and collaborate effectively with both technology and business stakeholders.
We believe you have:

Strong Python and Shell scripting skills, with experience in automation, performance analysis and operational tooling.

Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including SQL performance analysis, execution plans, indexing strategies and query optimization.

Solid Linux system administration skills, including server management, monitoring and troubleshooting.

Experience working in a DevOps environment, including CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and operational best practices.
Experience working with Murex or another trading or risk management platform would be highly valuable.
