We are looking to add Quality Engineer I to the QubicaAMF team at our Mechanicsville location. This position would suit an energetic individual wanting to make their mark in a Quality Assurance environment, upholding the company’s mission, vision, and values. This role can potentially lead to the Assistant Quality Manager or Quality Manager role.
Essential Functions
- Suppliers:
- Establishes and maintains the Supplier Quality Assurance program, providing quality support to vendors, Engineering, and Purchasing to improve the quality of received parts training on relevant Quality tools as needed.
- Assess all suppliers in collaboration with the Purchasing Director to ensure product quality and delivery goals are met.
- Manages the SQA process using risk tools to target low-performing suppliers.
- Monitor the supplier QPAP (PPAP) process through to formal approval prior to the vendor’s production volumes being received and manage any exceptions to this requirement.
- Facilitate effective communication with suppliers to ensure objectives are met.
- Maintain Supplier Performance Metrics by product ‘risk’ and communicate them to QubicaAMF’s Management.
- Issue and follow–up on 8ds with vendors.
- Follow an appropriate containment, correction, and escalation process when knowledge of supplier risk is gained.
- Lead SQA team meetings as required.

- Engineering Support
- Gives recommendations and/or technical decisions to ensure a defect-free processes/product through the supply chain to the customer.
- Collaboration with Engineering on new or changed parts through the ECR process.
- Drive the morning CAPA meetings with multi-departmental teams, to ensure all Manufacturing/Supply issues are contained and corrected. Ensure corrective actions against negative customer and installer experiences are captured communicated throughout the organization.
- Support internal Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including internal complaints associated with supplier non-conformances, leading efforts to improve.
- Supports manufacturing in terms of Lean Manufacturing & Lean Six Sigma.
- Internal/Customer Activities
- Understanding the customer requirements, undertake Quality Planning activities with Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing to ensure a defect free development and launch of new or changed product.
- Work with Manufacturing to continually help improve their processes at risk, to catch defective products or supplied product. (Audit processes, Inspection plans and flagging etc.)
- Supervisory Responsibilities
- The position will not have direct reports.
- Competencies/Qualifications
- Ability to coach and influence the origination’s ‘Quality’ mindset.
- An understanding of the PPAP process is preferred.
- CQE or CQM is preferred but not essential.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the root cause tools.
- Familiar with a std. CAPA process.
- A good understanding of mechanical and electrical devices and their applications.
- Work environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in works in a warehouse environment where higher levels of noise, dust and activity can be expected. This is a non- temperature-controlled warehouse where temperatures can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. There is frequent exposure to moving parts.
- Physical Demands
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Travel required
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally a few times a year or as required.
$75,000 - $85,000 a year
Required education and experience
Minimum of 5 years as a Quality or Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent in a manufacturing environment, ideally with a B.S. in a Mechanical or Manufacturing related subject.
Experienced in Inspection measurement with conventional and CMM-type equipment.
Knowledge and experience with Quality Systems.
Strong to advanced proficiency in computer software, including Excel, Microsoft Office, Click-Up, and Minitab or similar statistical packages, is preferred.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
