A Quality control (QC) inspector’s job is to ensure products meet established quality, safety, and company standards by monitoring production, inspecting raw materials, and testing finished goods. Key responsibilities include reading blueprints, utilizing tools such as calipers and gauges, documenting findings, evaluating and accepting or rejecting products, and recommending process improvements to minimize defects and ensure customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions
- Performing visual and manual inspections, tests, and measurements on raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet specifications and standards.
- Operating tools like calipers, gauges, micrometers, and electronic inspection equipment to take precise measurements.
- Observing manufacturing operations to ensure that processes are functioning correctly and adhering to standards.
- Understanding blueprints, specifications, and technical documents, and analyzing quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Documenting inspection and test data, recording defects or non-conformities, and reporting findings to managers.
- Examining evidence to accept or reject finished items and materials that fail to meet quality standards and recommend adjustments to the production or assembly process to correct issues.
- Ensuring products and processes comply with internal policies and relevant industry or legal regulations.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and shortages.
- Flagging incoming materials in ERP for desired inspection types.
- Supporting incoming material inspections as required.
- Generate MRO for nonconforming products.
- Investigating customer service and technical support complaints as needed.
- Connecting with Manufacturing to continually improve their processes at risk, to catch defective products, and supply products (Audit processes, Inspection plans, and flagging, etc.)
- Recommend and support Lean Manufacturing & Lean Six Sigma methodology.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Purchasing, and/or vendors when nonconforming products are discovered.
- Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as directed by management.
- The position will not have direct reports.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a general office environment where typical levels of noise, dust, and activity can be expected. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- No travel will be required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of experience in manufacturing or similar industries is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic inspection tools, such as calipers and micrometers, is preferred.

$36,000 - $48,000 a year
