We are seeking an IT Systems Infrastructure Lead for our Broomfield, CO location.
 
As the IT Systems Infrastructure Lead, you will lead all systems-focused initiatives and projects across the globe which includes server-based computing, backups and disaster recovery, and related infrastructure. You will also participate in overseeing and managing our identity and access management systems (AD, 365) and will participate in planning, building, and executing our cloud strategy and governance program. This is a technically focused role and will report to the Manager for IT Engineering who, in turn, is responsible for people leadership and performance management. This role is the senior most point of escalation for relevant issues and is not directly responsible for supervising staff.
 
You will be supported by a team of engineers and more broadly by management, Sr. Leadership, and a global IT organization, providing cutting-edge solutions and services to scientific teams to increase collaboration, productivity, and development of quantum software, applications, and hardware which will have a future impact on our everyday lives. You will work in close collaboration and coordination with our Network Engineering, Support Services, and Enterprise Application teams.
 
As part of the extended global IT leadership team, your voice will be critical in helping to develop and execute an enterprise-wide IT strategy and roadmap that is aligned and positioned to innovate and deliver compelling business value on a global scale.  Through partnership within and outside of IT, you will work to ensure stakeholders have access to our systems and services whenever and wherever they need them.  

Key Responsibilities:

    • Hands-on engagement designing, implementing, and supporting our global infrastructure including server, virtualization, storage, hardware, and monitoring.
    • Technically lead and mentor a team of global IT systems engineers in a customer-first enterprise.
    • Proactively communicate with IT, scientific, and enterprise leaders to translate business requirements into solutions and improve engagement and collaboration with critical stakeholders.
    • Ensure inquiries and escalations for incidents, projects, and service requests leverage best practices in service delivery, customer service, and IT automation.
    • Define and develop documentation and diagrams representing IT engineering workflows, projects, and infrastructure.
    • Ensure enterprise standards are upheld and implemented consistently, uniformly, and within compliance across the globe.
    • Identify key performance indicators and hold your team accountable for achieving those metrics (e.g., measurably improve infrastructure reliability, redundancy, security, and scalability).
    • Participate in CAPEX and OPEX budget planning, helping to develop the IT Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
    • Infrequent travel to other sites within the scope of your duties (U.S. based sites, and very occasionally to Europe and Asia-Pacific) as necessary, to ensure project delivery, oversight, and team mentorship.
    • Ability to respond to, manage, resolve, and minimize future after-hours events or crises. 

YOU MUST HAVE:

    • Bachelor's degree Minimum.
    • 8+ years’ experience in IT Services.
    • 3+ years’ experience supporting critical infrastructure with 2+ years’ selecting, configuring, and managing Nutanix Hyper-converged infrastructure.

WE VALUE:

    • Masters degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and/or equivalent formal training.
    • Extensive and demonstrable knowledge of IT systems, services, and hardware encompassing on-premises and cloud-based server and virtualization architectures.
    • ITIL, PMP, Comp TIA, and Microsoft certifications are highly desired.
    • Experience planning, building, and operating server equipment and their related infrastructure (e.g., power, cooling, and monitoring). Experience working with a collocation service provider or major public cloud providers is a plus.
    • Strong technical abilities and vision with a demonstrated history of project oversight and execution.
    • Knowledge of common enterprise IT systems, including Active Directory, Azure AD, ticket systems, and virtual technologies (desktop and server).
    • Experience working within, configuring, and managing Microsoft 365 (e.g., Entra) is preferred.
    • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration is a plus (e.g., Rancher, Kubernetes, Docker).
    • A background overseeing and managing workloads in Azure, AWS, or GCP is a plus.
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems at the desktop and server levels. Mac and Linux experience is a plus.
    • General knowledge of networking, routing, switching, wireless, certificates, and VPN technologies.
    • Ability to document procedures and design workflows to improve technical and operational stability and efficiency.

    • A background with end-user and desktop support systems, and enterprise-level IT services, tools, and procedures.
    • Ability to present and communicate IT concepts at all levels of the company.
    • Experience working in a technology start-up environment.
    • Willingness to be flexible in meeting the demands of a fast-moving business.
$125,000 - $147,000 a year
