We are a fast-paced start-up looking for a dynamic Network and Systems Analyst who is relentlessly focused on meeting the IT needs of our employees and business. 
 
About the Role: 
As Sr. Network and Systems Analyst, you will be part of the IT Engineering and Operations (E&O) team for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific (EMEA/APAC). You will be responsible for managing and maintaining our organization's network and systems infrastructure. Your expertise in network design, troubleshooting, and system administration will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our network and systems environment.  This role will work in partnership with the other E&O staff primarily based in the United Kingdom (U.K.) with some additional support across the world.  
 
As a subject matter expert (SME), you will be a critical partner in helping to develop and execute an enterprise-wide IT strategy and roadmap that is aligned and positioned to innovate and deliver compelling business value on a global scale.  Through partnership within and without IT, you will work to ensure stakeholders have access to our systems and services whenever and wherever they need them.  
 
You will be supported by a global IT organization, providing cutting-edge solutions and services to scientific teams to increase collaboration, productivity, and development of quantum software, applications, and hardware which will have a future impact on our everyday lives. Previous experience in a Sr. role as part of high-performing team is preferred. A natural desire to collaborate, mentor, and exceed end-user expectations is ideal for this position. 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Help design, implement, and maintain the organization's local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other networking components.
    • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
    • Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks or issues, and proactively implement solutions to optimize network performance and ensure high availability.
    • Conduct regular network security audits, vulnerability assessments, and implement necessary measures to enhance network security.
    • Manage and administer the organization's server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, operating systems, and related software.
    • Implement monitoring tools and services to oversee system performance, identify issues, and implement necessary measures to optimize system performance and reliability.
    • Oversee user accounts, permissions, and access rights, ensuring proper security controls and adherence to organizational policies.
    • Conduct regular system backups, disaster recovery planning, and testing to ensure business continuity.
    • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for network and system-related issues escalated from the help desk or junior team members.
    • Investigate and resolve complex network and system problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors as needed.
    • Perform root cause analysis of incidents and develop preventive measures to minimize future occurrences.
    • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices, applying them to enhance network and system performance.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of network and system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
    • Prepare regular reports on network and system performance, security incidents, and other relevant metrics.
    • Collaborate with management to provide recommendations for network and system enhancements, upgrades, and expansions.
    • Travel to other sites within the scope of your duties (U.K. based sites) to ensure project delivery, oversight, and team mentorship.
    • Ability to respond to, coordinate, and resolve after-hours events or crises.

You must have:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and/or equivalent formal training
    • 10+ years’ experience in relevant IT Service areas.
    • 3+ years’ experience working at a senior level support infrastructure, engineering, and desktop support teams in a customer-first enterprise.
    • Extensive and demonstrable knowledge of IT systems, services, and hardware encompassing on-premises and cloud-based server and network architectures, end-user and desktop support systems, and enterprise-level IT services, tools, and procedures.

What we value:

    • ITIL, PMP, Comp TIA, and Microsoft certifications are highly desired.
    • Experience participating in planning, building, and running server rooms and datacenters and their related equipment (e.g., power, cooling, and monitoring) or working with a collocation service provider on a global scale.
    • Extensive experience (7+ years) in network and systems administration, with a focus on enterprise-level environments.
    • Hands on experience managing and administrating Palo Alto firewalls
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems. Additional experience in MacOS and Linux highly desired.
    • Strong knowledge of network protocols, topologies, and security principles (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, ACLs, etc.).
    • Practical experience, or introduction to, working within a public cloud provider (Azure, AWS, etc.) and a strong desire to learn and innovate.
    • Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) from leading manufacturers (Cisco, Palo Alto, etc.).
    • Documented expertise in clustering, virtualization or hyperconverged infrastructure technologies (Nutanix, VMware, etc.), and storage systems.
    • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, SNMP, etc.).
    • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for automation and task efficiency.
    • Professional certifications such as CCNP, MCSA/MCSE, and relevant vendor-specific certifications are highly desirable.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to document procedures and design workflows to improve workplace support.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
    • Willingness to be flexible in meeting the demands of a fast-moving business.
