We are seeking a talented System Reliability and Automation Engineer in our Broomfield, CO location to ensure our quantum computing systems are observable, recoverable, and economically scalable across deployments. This role focuses on building the telemetry, automation, and recovery infrastructure required to operate complex quantum systems reliably in production environments. The engineer will work across the full system stack from hardware instrumentation to cloud services to detect faults, automate recovery, reduce downtime, and provide actionable reliability insights back into product development. Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement cross-layer telemetry systems spanning hardware, embedded systems, control software, and cloud infrastructure.
- Define standardized health metrics and system observability frameworks for complex quantum systems.
- Ensure telemetry enables effective fault detection, hard failures, transient anomalies, degradations, root cause analysis, and operational insight.
- Define and enforce system health boundaries and operational envelopes.
- Develop automated methods for monitoring, detecting, classifying, and prioritizing faults across hardware and software layers.
- Reduce operator intervention through intelligent automation and runbook codification.
- Identify systemic weaknesses and propose design improvements that enhance reliability and serviceability.
- Collaborate with product engineering to ensure reliability is designed into future systems.
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree minimum required
- 5+ years of industry experience working with complex hardware-software systems in development, deployment, or operational environments
- 2+ years of experience developing automation or reliability tooling using Python or similar scientific/engineering programming languages
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
- Advanced degree (Master's/PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Quantum Computing, Computer Science, or related field preferred
- Experience building or working with system telemetry, monitoring, or observability frameworks
- Experience developing automation for system recovery, fault handling, or operational workflows
- Experience applying machine learning or statistical modeling to system telemetry for anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, or degradation analysis
- Experience improving system reliability, availability, and MTTR in production environments
- Familiarity with quantum computing systems, cryogenic systems, or advanced hardware platforms
$125,000 - $145,000 a year
Compensation & Benefits:

The pay range for this role is $125,000 – $145,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
