We are seeking a Computational Scientist in our Broomfield, CO location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, optimize, and maintain numerical tools to enable key features of trapped-ion quantum computers
- Refinement and refactoring of existing numerical tools
- Extensively test, document, and maintain existing workflows for the design of surface-electrode ion traps
- Develop methods and workflows consisting of electrostatic modeling tools and nonlinear optimization techniques
- Collaborate with commercial and experimental teams on research and technology development
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree minimum
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
- B.S. in computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in one or more compiled languages such as C, C++, Fortran, or Rust
- Experience using HPC clusters, GPUs, and parallel computing techniques
- Experience interfacing compiled libraries with Python, including via ctypes or f2py
- Experience applying physical principles to optimization problems or numerical simulation
- Development of numerical tools for addressing novel physical systems
- Experience with numerical optimization techniques, such as convex optimization, genetic algorithms, or optimal control theory
- Experience guiding multi-parameter optimization via exploratory but rigorous manual parameter sweeps
- Experience scripting between open source and proprietary software for automating workflows
- Familiarity with software configuration, delivery, and deployment tools like Git
- A history of public-facing work, such as patents, open source repositories, or conference presentations
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
$80,000 - $101,000 a year
Compensation & Benefits:

The pay range for this role is $80,000 – $101,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
