Quantinuum is in search of a skilled high-performance computing (HPC) Software Engineer to join our Cambridge-based quantum software team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the design and implementation of software for novel heterogeneous HPC/Quantum Computing workloads. You will collaborate closely with researchers and engineers in the UK, US and Japan. 

The successful candidate will have a background in computer science or scientific computation.  You will be developing HPC software, primarily in C++, Rust and Python. You will be part of a small team, and will have input in the entire development process through research, design, programming, and testing. You will have the freedom to think independently and creatively in the team and make a real impact.  You will have opportunity to travel to visit clients in the US, Europe and Japan.   

Requirements

    • Significant software development experience using C++ or Rust. 
    • Experience in HPC software development projects.  
    • Familiarity with collaboration tools (e.g., version control, bug tracking systems) and general programming tools (e.g., debugger, profiler, software testing tools). 
    • A 2:1 degree or higher in Mathematics, Computer Science, Science, or Engineering. 

What We Value

    • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly.  
    • Experience with common HPC methods and tools such as MPI, Lustre, and SLURM. 
    • Knowledge of HPC networking technologies. 
    • Knowledge of compiler technologies, especially LLVM and MLIR. Interest in quantum computing. 
    • Interest in alternative methods of highly parallel processing, such as Legion. 
    • Familiarity with GPU computing and CUDA.
