Embedded Software Engineer - 965
We are seeking a Senior Advanced Embedded Software Engineer in our Broomfield, CO location. In this role, you will lead the development of embedded software for our Apollo quantum computer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background embedded software development, a solid understanding of control hardware, and experience working in a lab environment. Candidates should expect to be immersed in a fast-paced, multi-functional team-based environment with challenging technical obstacles to overcome where an individual with talent and initiative can stand out and thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, code, test, and debug embedded software developed for FPGA based quantum computer control hardware.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop new concepts and technologies used to control quantum computers.
- Work closely with FPGA developers to implement concepts and validate them on internal developmental testbeds.
- Evaluate new software and hardware technologies to improve the control of quantum computers.
- Deliver products and achieve program goals in an R&D and rapid prototyping environment.
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree
- 6+ years of industry experience in embedded software development.
- 4+ years of industry experience in an R&D or rapid prototyping environment.
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
WE VALUE:
- Masters/PhD degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of industry experience in an R&D or rapid prototyping environment.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python programming languages.
- Experience developing embedded software for SoC FPGA’s using embedded Linux.
- Experience writing low-level device drivers for various interfaces (SPI, I2C, High Speed serial, etc.).
- Prior experience configuring and writing embedded software for Xilinx MPSoC FPGAs using Xilinx Vitis SDK.
- Strong interest in learning about new hardware and software tools.
- Ability to use typical lab equipment like Oscilloscopes, DMM, JTAG devices, logic analyzers, etc.
- Basic understanding of HDL’s including Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL.
- Strong communication skills and a proven ability to lead by example through execution of programmatic goals, consistently demonstrating decisive business impact, and continuously driving for improvement in a rapidly changing environment.
Compensation & Benefits:
The pay range for this role is $135,334 – $181,900 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
