Quantinuum is expanding its business globally, and Japan plays a pivotal role in its development plan. We are developing quantum software, applications, and hardware that will have a future impact on our everyday lives.

As a part of global expansion, we are commencing operation of our brand new quantum computer hardware lab located in RIKEN campus, Wako, Saitama.
To provide optimal environment for our hardware operation and advance our research, Site Operations Manager will oversee overall direction of plant management, including planning, design, procurement, development, operation, and improvement of laboratory & facility. This is your opportunity to join at the onset of early stage of business expansion in Japan.
 
You will work closely with Japan team, our Global ISC (Integrated Supply Chain) Team and Commercial Hardware Operations team. You will have previous experience in working at technical facilities, such as laboratory, manufacturing factory, chemical/material engineering, electronics, or energy plant.

Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the Quantinuum new technical facility, in close collaboration with Japan team and Global functional team. Provide the Quantinuum team with effective leadership, guidance, and communication.
    • Own the Lease Management for all Quantinuum locations in Japan. Work with respective landlord and/or property management team to ensure that our spaces and its environment complies with their protocols and regulations; as well as with Quantinuum technical requirements. Manage general office supplies, assets, and budgets in collaboration with the Finance team.
    • Act as a liaison for Materials management team for good receipt and invoice management. Collaborate with Landlord team regarding any receiving/shipping dock activity.
    • Partner with Procurement on collecting quotes, explain risks and opportunities and obtain necessary approvals to place orders where necessary. Work directly with vendors in Japan in support of Quantinuum Operations, prepare SOW (Statement of Work) for additional facilities, Liquefaction, lab environment or HSE modification and/or improvement.
    • Coordinate helium supply with the landlord and external vendors, monitor deliveries and movement of dewars from receiving to the final location.
    • Plan and execute workplace Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) management (workplace monitoring, emergency response procedure, first aid, employee training, PPE supply, hazardous material handling, etc.) Be responsible for periodic inspections of the facility and its equipment mandated by local regulations as well by Quantinuum policies.
    • Partner with the Security team on physical security management of Quantinuum sites in Japan.
    • Perform other duties, as necessary.

Requirement

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education.
    • 5+ years of working experience in manufacturing, technology related industry.
    • 2+ years of experience in managing role (site lead role, facilities leader, or manager).
    • Experience in working in global, matrixed organization.
    • A history of successful collaboration with both technical and non-technical teams.
    • Fluency in both English & Japanese to conduct complex and technical business communication.

Desirable

    • Postgraduate education.
    • Experience or a strong interest in quantum or emerging technologies.
    • International experience either in education or work.
    • Facility related certificate/license such as: Hazardous Materials Handler, Class 1 Health & Safety Supervisor, Electrician, Machinery maintenance technician.
