We are seeking a(n) Ion Trap Fabrication Intern in our Plymouth, MN Location.

We are seeking a highly motivated intern with a background in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science to join our team focused on ion trap device fabrication. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the development and characterization of advanced wafer-level fabrication processes for quantum technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the development and optimization of microfabrication processes for ion trap devices.
    • Support integration of novel materials into existing fabrication workflows.
    • Perform characterization of fabricated devices using techniques such as SEM electrical testing and other materials measurement techniques.
    • Analyze process data and contribute to process improvement strategies.
    • Document experimental procedures, results, and findings in lab notebooks and reports.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, metrology, and quantum device testing.

YOU MUST HAVE:

    • Current enrollment in a graduate program
    • Graduating on or after 2026 
    • Experience with materials characterization tools and data analysis.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Citizen

WE VALUE:

    • Pursuing Masters or PhD degree in in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
    • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and microfabrication techniques (e.g., photolithography, etching, deposition).
    • Prior experience with ion trap technologies or quantum devices is a plus but not required.
    • This internship may lead to opportunities for continued collaboration or full-time employment.
$33 - $40 an hour
Compensation & Benefits: 
Non-Incentive Eligible 
The pay range for this role is $33/hr. – $40/hr. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
