The Opportunity
Corporate IT runs on a cloud-native, identity-first operating model. This hire keeps it that way: hardening, optimising, and evolving the stack as threats and business needs shift.
You'll lead four engineers and act as the primary technical interface with our managed service desk partner and the wider service integration structure across the Prosus group. That means holding the partner accountable without making it adversarial, keeping the stack secure and reliable, and being the visible face of Corporate IT to the wider business, from the group CIO to business unit leads.
This isn't a role where you manage from a distance. You'll be in the work alongside the team, making calls when priorities shift, and giving the team the trust and momentum it needs from its lead during a period of change. As Corporate IT's operating model matures, the role is a natural step toward broader security leadership or platform architecture ownership within the group.
Who You Are
You've spent a good part of your career as a senior individual contributor or hands-on tech lead. Someone who has personally delivered technical programmes, not just overseen the people who did. You bring the calm and clarity that keeps a team focused when the environment is uncertain. You're comfortable with ambiguity; you don't wait for perfect information before making a call.
You communicate as naturally with a CFOor group CIO as you do with an engineer debugging an Okta policy. You understand that trust with the wider business is earned through consistency, plain language, and follow-through, not through technical jargon. You care about the people you lead, give them clear goals and honest feedback, and know that a stable, engaged team is what makes everything else possible.
What You Bring
- Deep, hands-on fluency in cloud-native, identity-first infrastructure: Google Workspace, Okta, AWS, and Slack, including configuration, security hardening, and day-to-day operations
- Hands-on experience with device management platforms (e.g., Jamf, Intune, IRU/MDM solutions), including deployment, policy enforcement, and migration between platforms
- Proven track record of personally delivering technical and security-related initiatives end to end, not just overseeing others who did
- Working knowledge of ITSM/ITIL service management practices (incident, change, and problem management) and experience operating in a ticketing/ITSM platform such as Xurrent, ServiceNow, or equivalent
- Experience holding a team together and maintaining delivery momentum through an organisational transition or period of change
- Comfortable working with a managed service partner: setting expectations, tracking commitments, and resolving gaps without creating friction or over-reliance
- Strong communicator across all levels: you've authored company-wide security communications, presented at internal forums, or otherwise built credibility with senior stakeholders outside IT
- Hands-on experience managing or technically leading a small team of engineers: setting direction, unblocking work, and developing people alongside your own technical output
- Experience in relevant roles, with a good portion at IC or tech lead level
- Familiarity with compliance and audit frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR): you've been through an audit cycle, know what evidence looks like, and can translate findings into remediation actions
- Comfortable managing operational budget lines, tracking vendor spend, and working with FTE allocations — not a finance role, but you're not frightened of a spreadsheet
- Experience leading or participating in a platform migration (on-premises to cloud, or cross-platform) is a strong plus
- Background in a multi-entity or multi-vendor IT service environment is a plus
- Formal security qualification (CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or equivalent) is preferred; ITIL Foundation or Practitioner is a plus given the ITSM environment
- Experience setting AI usage policy, managing tool access controls, or establishing spending guardrails for AI platforms is a plus
- AWS certification (Security Specialty or Solutions Architect Associate) or Google Workspace Administrator certification is a plus
- A demonstrable public presence, such as a conference talk, published writing, or something built and shipped, also rounds out the profile
Your day might begin by reviewing where key workstreams stand across the team: what's blocking progress, and what needs a direct conversation with your service partner or one of your engineers to unblock. You triage with an 80/20 mindset: what absolutely must move today, and what can wait.
Through the morning, you might be deep in technical design with one of your engineers, then shift to a stakeholder sync, walking a business unit lead through the status of a change that affects their team in plain language that builds confidence rather than confusion.
Afternoons often surface the harder calls: a timeline slipping, a service partner needing a firm steer, or a team member who needs a direct conversation about priorities. You close the day with a clear picture of where things stand and what tomorrow needs from you.
