Who We Are

Prosus is a leading global technology company, based in Europe. With ecosystems that span India, Latin America, Europe and beyond, Prosus is the power behind some of the world’s leading lifestyle ecommerce brands. We own and invest in a portfolio of 100+ companies in sectors such as in food delivery, quick commerce, fintech and experiences, all of which help billions of people buy, sell and transact every day.

We connect these leading brands through our AI-driven ecosystem that leverages data to deliver seamless, personalised lifestyle-ecommerce experiences for buyers and sellers, reshaping exceptional service for our two billion customers. Few companies can connect people and problem-solve across borders, as we do.

Through our Ventures business we also invest in companies which inspire and support the Prosus ecosystem. We search for new opportunities at the leading edge of AI and ecommerce, the digital AI workforce and in frontier technologies, such as robotics, drones and synbio.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on build role. You will own the AWS infrastructure underpinning Toqan — not as an oversight function, but as the engineer who designs, builds, and ships the platform components that make ecosystem-scale AI possible.

Concretely, you will build:

• You will define the infrastructure standards and guardrails that keep the whole AI Platform team building consistently and safely as the footprint grows. This is infra as a service — your work enables everyone else to contribute.

• Terraform migration — moving the platform from CloudFormation to Terraform-managed infrastructure

• A model routing layer — directing requests intelligently across multiple LLM providers

• API gateways — production-grade, low-latency, and built to serve several OpCos

• Kubernetes infrastructure — designed and provisioned from the ground up

The measure of success is concrete: infrastructure scaled to support every major Prosus OpCo without reliability incidents, cost-per-request reduced through deliberate architectural choices, and infra standards adopted team-wide within six months.

Amsterdam is home base. You will work alongside a team of 15 engineers who move fast
and think at group scale.

Who You Are

You write the code and build the infrastructure — not one or the other. When a product team says "we need this to work across 10 companies," you are already mapping the architecture: where the shared patterns live, where the edge cases break, and what guardrails will keep things coherent as the footprint grows.

You default to MVPs over perfect solutions. You are comfortable making architectural calls with 60 to 80 percent of the information, then iterating quickly when the evidence shifts. You have worked in fast-moving environments and know that shipping a working system beats designing an ideal one.

You hold strong opinions on quality but stay low-ego about how you get there. Security is not an afterthought — it is designed in from the start, especially when you are building sandboxes and execution environments.

What You Bring

Required
• Deep hands-on AWS expertise across compute, networking, storage, and managed services — you know which service to reach for and why
• Strong command of Terraform at real scale — you are migrating an existing platform, not starting from scratch
• Experience building production backend services in a multi-product or platform-team context, where your decisions ripple across multiple engineering teams
• CI/CD pipeline ownership end-to-end — automated testing, build systems, the full stack
• Security-first mindset — you design safe systems by default, not as an afterthought
• Systems-level thinking — reliability, scalability, and performance from the start

Strong plus
• Experience building secure code execution sandboxes or isolated runtime
environments
• Kubernetes at scale — cluster design and provisioning, not just deployment
• Experience building and maintaining event-sourced systems
• Go for building production backend services — gateways, routers, and platform tooling will be written in Go
• Python proficiency on top of Go
• Hands-on experience integrating with multiple AI and LLM providers in production — you understand how model capabilities translate into robust, scalable backend systems

Your Typical Day

Your day might begin by reviewing infrastructure performance dashboards for Toqan and Toqan Claw — checking latency, availability, and cost signals across the OpCos currently live on the platform. If something looks off, you dig in before it becomes a problem for a product team in another country.

Mid-morning, you're likely in a working session with AI engineers, translating a new platform requirement into an infrastructure pattern — thinking through how it scales, where the failure modes are, and how it fits the standards you're building for the team. You write the Terraform, review a colleague's CDK module, or close out a guardrail that's been in draft.

In the afternoon, you might be heads-down on an architectural decision for the next OpCo rollout, or syncing with the broader team on cost optimisation progress. The work is technical and consequential — and the team around you is moving at the same pace.
