As a TM Manager you will manage our Transaction Monitoring (TM) department in the first line of defence. In Finom, our TM team is responsible for reviewing transactions and other aspects of customer activity on the Finom platform to detect suspicious patterns, conduct investigations, and rapidly escalate them to prevent possible fraud/money laundering or sanctions evasion attempts. You will also be responsible for defining the requirements, implementation, and improvement of internal systems and processes to make Finom’s financial crime risk management systems scalable and effective.
The role can be based either in Amsterdam (hybrid) or in Spain (remote).
What you will be doing
- Team: Manage a team of TM team leads. Responsible for ensuring efficient capacity of the team, quality of the team and success of the processes the team work on.
- Data and quality: Create and manage analytical reports to identify new typologies of unusual customer behavior. Collaborate with the FinCrime team to identify quality issues and drive the quality metrics up.
- TM rule management: Manage the drafting, testing, and reviewing of functional requirements for the TM systems.
- Stakeholder relationships: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including our product, customer care and sales teams, as well as banks, vendors and other partners. Communicate with our payment infrastructure providers to escalate requests and track issues.
- Operational efficiency: Take the lead in initiatives related to improvements in the operational efficiency of the team by standardizing processes and documenting clear work instructions.
- AI: You will take the the lead in the transformation of the function to be on the edge of biggest technological shift of all times happening in the industry to meet the demand of the new era of AI. Manage projects in AI training and model validation for Machine Learning models.
- You will also need to initiate and assume responsibility for ad hoc project work within the department. You will perform any other duties as reasonably required for the operational efficiency of Finom (pro-actively deemed necessary by the employee) or/and as communicated by the manager.
Who you are
- 5+ years of proven experience in a regulated financial institution (preferably a fintech, neobank,etc) in similar roles (KYC/CDD/ Transaction monitoring, anti-fraud, sanctions team, etc).
- 2+ years experience leading people (even better if you were a manager of managers). You demonstrate the ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members.
- Thorough understanding of various types of financial crimes in Europe; Strong data-driven approach to Transaction Monitoring.
- Proven experience working with Metabase, SQL, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Detail-orientated and highly motivated self-starter. Start-up oriented, innovative mindset, proactive, result-driven, self-motivated, and capable of working under own initiative and little supervision.
- You have a natural curiosity for technolohical advancements, and experience with low code/AI tools available around is a strong plus
- Most of all, you are resilient, and ready for a new challenge!
- Speak English fluently
