About the role

    • As a Regional Tax Manager, you will play an integral part in Tax strategy across the designated countries and work closely with Key Stakeholders in an advisory capacity; additionally, you will be responsible for the management and execution of tax compliance, tax reporting and commercial tax advisory for Latam countries

What you will do

    • Provide guidance and tax technical support to the extended tax team in the region.
    • Responsible for overall tax compliance and for maintaining tax risk assessment and control frameworks updated, to ensure effective tax management in the countries in which we operate in LatAm region.
    • Actively, contribute with the regional tax strategy to re-shape the tax function to be effective and efficient.
    • For Colombia, Mexico, Brazil and Panama, detail review of tax compliance obligations. For Peru, Argentina, and Chile analytical review of tax compliance. In both cases before filed and paid.
    • Review / preparation of tax argumentation (defense files) and underline documentation and computation related open tax audits in LatAm
    • Point of contact and discussion with banks (acquiring banks) regarding the application of withholding tax (for foreign and local merchants) / Point of contact with merchants regarding their tax inquiries / problems (mostly withholding tax)
    • Analytical review of intercompany recharges prepared by accounting team for the PSP and strategic services – monthly.
    • Review / Preparation of corporate income tax. Responsible for implement tax strategies of refund positions in the region.
    • Transfer pricing preparation of workpapers and support documentation, review and assessment of TP results, filing (if applicable)
    • Tax analysis for potential non – resident merchants (preparation of a tax frame). We are also trying to build a data base with the tax treatment of non-resident merchants in each country considering the nature of the service, though it must always be a case-by-case analysis. Answer to follow up questions by the merchants.
    • Review and assessment of tax positions, treatments, guidelines, strategies, decisions to be consider and applied in each country considering PayU’s activities in LatAm.
    • Review of agreements from a tax standpoint / discussion with counterparty per jurisdiction or region
    • Review and discussion of the on-boarding process to guarantee that the tax frame is observed, and that the supporting documentation required by tax is obtained. Applicable for Merchants and Suppliers
    • Collaboration with global / regional finance team for the following streams: Preparation of annual tax budget, preparation of latam taxation forecast FC1 and FC2. On a monthly basis responsible for providing tax inputs at Monthly end Close.
    • Provide support to tax director in global projects i.e. Merchant Cash, Tax Enginee, ETR, Differ Tax Asset.
    • Update tax policies and tax position papers based on tax strategy defined by the tax team
    • Other Responsibilities: Review of the platform's functionalities regarding withholding taxes, Answer requests of accounting, invoicing, and treasury teams regarding the application of withholdings to invoices/payments, point of contact – relation with tax advisors and outsourcing for compliance / review and approval of commercial offers / review, and cross-functional collaboration with finance, commercial, operations, legal, technology and product teams.

What you need to succeed

    • Be a Tax Attorney
    • Have a Master’s degree in international tax
    • beteewn 8-20 years of experience in LATAM regional tax
    • Knowledge in basic accounting and understanding of accounting systems.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel - up to the advanced level
    • Good communication skills / Proficient in English
    • Ability to quickly understand and integrate business objectives and communicate regional tax requirements.
    • Strong leadership and personnel management skills
    • Highly analytical and attention to details.
