A Product Owner (PO) plays a critical role in representing the business requirements in an agile development environment. They ensure that the development team understands the product development required within the overall product strategy. The PO acts as a bridge between stakeholders and the agile development team, translating business requirements into actionable tasks and user stories.

Responsibilities

    • Regularly update and refine their product backlog, ensuring that each item is clearly articulated, actionable and prioritised based on guidance from the Head of Product and PMs  - prioritisation considerations being business value, customer needs and potential impact on the overall product & merchant experience.
    • Assist the PO team with backlog management, issue resolution and alignment/prioritisation setting
    • Engage extensively with stakeholders, internal teams, external partners and customers to gather detailed specifications for each required development. This involves breaking down high-level objectives into specific user stories with clear acceptance criteria for the development team
    • Assess team capacity, understand technical implications and select tasks for the upcoming sprint in alignment with business objectives.
    • Own the measuring and reporting process for key metrics designed to ensure continuous monitoring and improvement of the performance of the development process (across all teams) e.g. Story Point tracking, cycle times, estimate v actual effort per development, etc

Must-Have Skills & Criteria

    • Able to assess requests from multiple sources and prioritise tasks
    • Ability to engage stakeholders to ensure business requirements are collated and shared
    • Analytical skills to break down development requests into user stories
