As a Data Science Engineer at ONI you will design and build modern data analysis solutions to enable non-expert scientists to gain rapid and actionable insights using super-resolution across academic research, drug development, and diagnostics.

Your Role at ONI:

    • Develop point-cloud and image processing solutions in our cloud platform to support our key end-to-end super-resolution workflows enabling non-experts to gain clear and actionable insights.
    • Ensure the scientific accuracy and rigor of both our emerging and established analysis tools and techniques, while optimising for an intuitive and efficient user experience.
    • Guide the team towards adopting data and engineering best practices to be able to quickly deliver value while not compromising quality.
    • Own delivery of key tools and features from R&D through to deployment into customers through production.
    • Remain abreast of the latest advancements in fluorescence imaging, including emerging algorithms, methodologies, and software tools, to maintain our leading edge in technology.
    • Effectively communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including software engineering, product management, bioware, chemistry, and hardware ensuring seamless integration and alignment of goals across all departments.

Essential experience and qualifications:

    • Experience in developing data processing solutions in a commercial environment.
    • Strong background in fluorescence microscopy analysis.
    • Proficiency in image processing techniques such as enhancement and segmentation.
    • Strong professional Python programming skills.
    • Experience with modern cloud technologies.
    • Familiarity with software engineering and data best practices.
    • Graduate-level education in a quantitative field.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a collaborative software development role in a professional context.

Desired experience and qualifications:

    • Experience in advanced image processing techniques.
    • Experience with high-performance computing environments.
    • Experience with software/algorithms for localisation microscopy such as clustering and drift-correction (e.g., dStorm, PALM, DNA-PAINT).
    • Experience using or developing analysis software for particle tracking. 
    • Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field.
