We’re on a mission to put super-resolution microscopy into the hands of researchers everywhere. We’re doing this now with our Nanoimager microscope, but we’re always looking to improve our system. So we’re looking for a Staff Systems Scientist to join our team and develop the next generation of our products.

Reporting to the Director of Hardware, your responsibilities will include;

    • Contribute to system design and documentation to manage interdependencies in a highly sophisticated super-resolution microscopy system
    • Participate in the process of converting market requirements into product requirements into design specification
    • Contribute to a multidisciplinary team for the system and subsystem design and development, covering a variety of domains including optical, mechanical, fluidic, electrical, and software/firmware
    • Perform risk analysis, develop test plans, coordinate, and execute verification and validation testing of subsystems and systemsImprove and standardize processes and protocols for system verification to yield confidence in results and quality products
    • Ensure system documentation is complete and organized, and released/tracked with appropriate stakeholder sign-off
    • Create and maintain standards for engineering documentation, including definition and documentation of design work and interfaces between biochemistry, hardware systems & consumables, and software
    • Support the progression of products through the various phases of development and the transfer of new products into manufacturing
    • Work with Customer Support and Product Lifecycle Engineering to ensure customer experience and insights from released products are fed back into new product design
    • Mentor team members through design & development process, helping to reinforce best practices in a growing and maturing R&D organization
    • Assist in methodical root-cause analysis of complex problems and techniques for isolating root causes and resolving identified issues
    • Support definition and proposals for future architectures and roadmap planning including evaluating new technologies, identifying opportunities to combine existing product functionalities, and generating novel IP

Qualifications

    • 3+ years of industry experience as a Systems Engineer
    • 5+ years of industry experience as an EngineerMasters or PhD in relevant technical discipline e.g. Mechanical/Optical/Electrical Engineering
    • Systems engineering of sophisticated projects to develop multicomponent Life Sciences research tools, incl. optical and consumable components
    • Owned development of optical and/or consumable product functional requirements
    • Participated in design of verification and validation studies for novel hardware products
    • Experience with DOE with JMP or equivalent software packages
    • Understanding of materials used in fluidic consumables and appropriate applications for different products and systems
    • Interfaced with customer-facing teams to design and implement product improvements
$150,000 - $160,000 a year
