We’re on a mission to make super-resolution microscopy accessible to everyone through our Nanoimager microscope. We’ve grown a lot over the last 7 years, but there’s plenty more to do. We’re looking for a VP Finance, to work alongside the CEO and ONI’s Leadership team, to accelerate us into the next stages of growth.

You’ve already been a Financial leader in a similar-sized organisation to ours - ideally within the Life Science sector - developing and implementing strategies for everything from monthly reconciliations to business expansion and fundraising. And it doesn’t stop there. Your strategies have also driven corporate decision-making and business expansion on the road to success. And whilst you’re comfortable with the day-to-day operations, it’s the team around you which helps you to deliver on these plans.

Reporting to our CEO, Paul Scagnetti, your responsibilities will include:

    • Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and related financial reports
    • Conduct financial analysis and developing a formal budget for departments, tracking revenue, and all other primary financial metrics
    • Develop scalable financial analysis and budgeting processes to enable business growth including new regions
    • Develop and implement cash management strategies, including forecasting, investment strategies, and risk management techniques
    • Develop the capability to model financials for new products, partnerships, licensing, and integrating system into program reviews and project evaluation
    • Execute on the confirmed financing strategy, leading outreach and negotiations to achieve successful financing round(s)
    • Lead the company through Series C fundraise, and potential subsequent rounds, through engagement with potential capital partners throughout H2 2023 and H1 2024, in collaboration with Leadership Team and Board
    • Develop and implement effective risk management practices to identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks
    • Lead and grow the finance and accounting team, including direct management of team members in both the UK and USA
    • Lead Business & Corporate Development and External Legal functions, including a team leader working on partnerships, licenses, and potential M&A
    • Set clear goals and expectations for all team members, provide regular feedback and coaching, and support professional development opportunities
    • Act as primary contact for ONI to legal, accounting, and back end business services
$200,000 - $300,000 a year
To be successful, you’ll need to be as proficient at providing creative, ‘back-of-the-napkin’ financials during ad hoc strategy meetings, as you are delivering long-term, accurate financial modeling and forecasting to our Leadership Team and Board. You’ll also be responsible for delivering our Series C, and subsequent, fundraising rounds, so a strong investor network will be crucial to your - and indeed our - success.

As you’ve developed and delivered on corporate expansion plans in the past, you’re also experienced with identifying, negotiating with, and managing alliances and partnerships alike, and leading M&A activities in line with the company’s commercial strategy.

Your network reaches deep into the public markets, which you’ve built out during previous IPO and public fundraising events. And ‘knowing your audience’ is something you’re renowned for, whether you’re addressing the company or a global equity fund, you ensure complex financial information is communicated clearly and accurately, keeping the recipient in mind.

If you’re excited about our mission, one that will advance science & medicine, then we really should be speaking. You can start that conversation by applying here
