As the Facilities Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring our Oxford site operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all applicable regulations. This role will involve overseeing facility operations, managing health and safety protocols across hardware and Bioware, and driving regulatory compliance to support our commitment to advancing healthcare through scientific innovation.
As a Facilities Supervisor you will:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of ONI's Oxford facilities, including building maintenance, repairs, security, and contractor management, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
- Oversee the facilities budget, including forecasting, cost control, and supplier contract negotiation to optimise resources and support business needs.
- Develop and manage emergency response plans, including drills and training for staff to ensure preparedness in the event of an incident.
- Maintain and manage ONI asset register in line with ONI requirements including obsolete requirements.
- Own asset calibration schedule, ensuring equipment performing in line with ONI requirements.
- Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programmes and policies in alignment with ONI’s standards and regulatory requirements, supporting our commitment to operational excellence.
- Management of ONI recycling and waste management processes
- Work with Dir. Operations on ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) strategy, policies and reporting
- Develop, implement and monitor health and safety protocols. Conduct risk & COSHH assessments, ensuring adherence to relevant safety regulations, creating a safe workplace for our team on and off site
- Manage and maintain the accident reporting process
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, compliance documentation, and maintenance schedules; prepare reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies as required.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in facilities management or a related field, with a proven track record in health and safety and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in managing facility operations within a regulated industry, such as biotech, healthcare, or scientific research.
- Asset management
- Demonstrable experience with budget management, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
- Familiarity with creating and implementing emergency preparedness and response plans.
- Strong organisational and project management skills with an eye for detail.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK health, safety, and compliance regulations.
- Effective communication skills to work closely with ONI teams and external suppliers.
- Proficiency in developing policy and procedure documentation.
- Strong IT, information management skills
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working within a laboratory or research environment, especially in the biotech or life sciences sectors.
- Hands-on factory/office maintenance
- Knowledge of sustainable practices and energy-efficient solutions within facilities management.
- Previous experience managing compliance in high-technology environments.
- Experience working in a start-up environment
- Fire marshall/officer training
- Laser safety
- ESG reporting
- HSE and fire safety audit experience
- Gas canister safety experience
- ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO4500
- Relevant certifications, such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or a Facilities Management qualification.
- Analytical skills for interpreting data and creating compliance reports for facility improvements.
