As a Senior Scientist at ONI you will be responsible for supporting the development of novel kits and biochemical or biophysical tools for super resolution microscopy, leading to Life Science tool product launches that enable users to visualize and analyze biological systems on the Nanoimager platform. 

Your Role at ONI:

    • Invent, design and execute proof-of-concept ideas and experiments for novel super-resolution imaging.
    • Test, refine and optimise new workflows and reagents for sample preparation and image acquisition protocols for use by internal & external customers 
    • Optimise and refine protocols and reagents to be launched as products and kits.
    • Develop, review and test protocols based on internal and external user feedback
    • Support implementation of technology into super-resolution workflows on the Nanoimager
    • Conduct hands-on lab work to support advancement of concepts and development of products
    • Maintain research and development records, including database management, batch records, notebooks, and all other technical documentation
    • Work with external partners and via research collaborations developing technical notes, application notes, webinars, and scientific publications

Essential skills and qualifications:

    • Advanced degree (PhD/DPhil) in relevant fields i.e. molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or chemistry.
    • Postdoc experience, with at least 2 years of industry experience developing life science tools or diagnostics
    • Worked as part of a team to contribute to the development of successfully commercialised products used as research tools in life sciences or as diagnostics 
    • Worked as part of a multidisciplinary team to invent or develop  new imaging assays and technology
    • Hands-on laboratory skills, solving conceptual problems using multiple analytical tools, instruments and systems
    • Experience with super-resolution imaging techniques, microscopy, cell sorting, antibody based assays, biological sample preparation, image acquisition and data analysis, and/or cell based assay development.
    • Experience with single molecular localization microscopy  (e.g. dSTORM, PALM, PAINT, SPT).
    • Experience with EM, molecular biology, cloning, antibody development, genomics, epigenetics, in situ hybridization, and/or spatial profiling, cancer biology.
    • Proven track record of creativity and inventive technology development in multidisciplinary life science lab, demonstrated via publications or patents.
    • Analysed, interpreted, presented, published research data in a rigorous peer reviewed environment.
    • Data analysis and statistical analysis tools, Python, MatLab, ImageJ/ Fiji, R, JMP etc.

Desired skills and qualifications:

    • Experience with in situ hybridization, nucleic acid detection via microscopy, or spatial biology techniques
    • Worked in cancer biology, extracellular vesicles, lipid nanoparticles, neurobiology, microbiology, virology, or  autoimmune diseases
    • Assay and laboratory automation
    • Experience with bioconjugation chemistries
    • Study design in a development context
    • Design and execution of verification and validation studies 
    • Design of Experiment (DOE)
$125,000 - $140,000 a year
