Senior System Engineer
About the team
We are the Enterprise Systems team at OLX, responsible for building automations and driving AI adoption across the organisation. Over the past six months we have grown from a pure automation squad into a dedicated AI & Automation team - designing agentic AI solutions, AI-infused workflows, intelligent bots, and internal apps powered by large language models. We run proof-of-concepts and proof-of-values on emerging AI tools, deliver workshops and hackathons, and partner with non-tech teams through discovery sessions to find the highest-impact opportunities for AI in their day-to-day work.
We operate by OLX's 4C values — Courage to push into new territory with AI before the playbook exists, Commitment to follow through from prototype to real impact, Collaboration across every department we serve, and a Customer-led mindset that starts with what internal teams actually need. On top of that, this team has a genuine desire to win — we move fast, set ambitious targets, and hold ourselves accountable for results.About the role
We are looking for a Senior System Engineer who is equally comfortable building production-grade automations and enabling colleagues across the company to work smarter with AI. You will split your time between hands-on workflow development and AI evangelism - designing automated processes one day and running a workshop for the Legal or Customer Service team the next.
This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys both sides: the craft of connecting systems and the satisfaction of watching a non-technical team discover what AI can do for them.
What you'll do
Automation & Workflow Engineering
-
Design, develop, and deploy automated workflows using n8n and other low-code/no-code tools to improve operational efficiency across IT, HR, Legal, Finance, Customer Service, and other back-office functions.
-
Build agentic AI solutions and AI-infused automations that go beyond simple task-to-task hand-offs — incorporating LLMs, decision logic, and intelligent routing.
-
Own automation projects end-to-end: scoping, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
-
Integrate across OLX's tooling landscape — Atlassian (Jira, Confluence), Slack, Google Workspace, SAP, Coupa, and others — via RESTful APIs and JSON to create seamless cross-system workflows.
-
Write, test, and debug scripts in Python or JavaScript for complex logic, data manipulation, and custom API error handling.
-
Maintain and support the n8n automation platform and its surrounding infrastructure.
AI Enablement & Evangelism
-
Run discovery sessions with business and back-office teams to identify tasks and processes that can be improved, accelerated, or reimagined through AI.
-
Lead workshops, hackathons, and training initiatives that build AI fluency across the organisation — making these tools accessible to non-technical colleagues.
-
Conduct proof-of-concepts and proof-of-values on new AI tools and SaaS products, translating findings into clear recommendations for adoption or investment.
-
Create and maintain a library of prompts, playbooks, and ready-to-use AI workflows that teams can pick up and apply immediately.
-
Provide hands-on consulting to teams running AI-related projects — from prototype to production.
-
Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and keep the organisation informed on what matters and what doesn't.
Collaboration & Mentoring
-
Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices within the team.
-
Collaborate with team leadership to shape the roadmap and prioritise high-impact initiatives.
-
Drive continuous improvement by identifying patterns across departments and sharing reusable solutions.
Who we're looking for
-
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience across automation engineering, AI enablement, or a combination of both.
-
Strong hands-on experience with n8n or a comparable low-code/no-code integration platform (Make, Zapier).
-
Demonstrated proficiency with RESTful APIs and JSON for integrating SaaS applications.
-
Working knowledge of foundational AI models and APIs (LLMs, generative AI) and practical experience incorporating them into business workflows.
-
Practical experience with prompt engineering - you know how to get reliable, high-quality outputs from AI models.
-
Ability to write, test, and debug scripts in Python or JavaScript.
-
Track record of running workshops, training sessions, or hackathons - you can translate complex technology into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical audiences.
-
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
-
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field is a plus, but not required.
-
Courageous and proactive - you spot opportunities before anyone asks, propose bold ideas, and drive them forward independently.
-
Committed and results-driven - you see things through from idea to impact and measure success by outcomes, not just deliverables shipped.
-
Collaborative - you work across departments with people of varying technical backgrounds and meet them where they are.
-
Customer-led - you start with what the teams you serve actually need, not with the technology you want to use.
-
Desire to win - you set ambitious targets, move fast, and hold yourself accountable. Good enough isn't good enough.
-
High curiosity - you stay on top of a fast-moving AI landscape and are quick to learn and evaluate new tools.

We work with a range of tools and expect you to be proficient in several of them. You don't need to know every one — but the more of this landscape you've covered, the stronger your application.
