The Head of Tax will create an enterprise strategy for our Tax function across the OLX Group, and work closely across tax, finance and legal functions to deliver on this strategy. 
Success is meeting our current and future global business needs related to ETR management, risk minimization and reporting and compliance obligations, using a strong data-driven approach to make decisions, delivering value and partnering with peer functional leaders in finance, legal and operations across geographies.
The Head of Tax will report directly to the Group CFO and build a 3-4 member tax team working closely with external advisors to implement the tax strategy. The Head of Tax will have a dotted reporting line to the Naspers/Prosus group Tax team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Tax planning: Full oversight of corporate tax, transfer pricing, M&A and VAT matters across 10+ geographies, experience working with CEE markets will be valued.
    • Tax Reporting: Responsible for meeting financial reporting obligations including ETR reconciliation, deferred tax assets and liabilities, tax contingencies and documenting material intercompany transactions. Review tax calculations prepared by local teams and external advisors to identify any material deviations from forecasted ETR.
    • Compliance management: ensure full compliance for tax filings across all markets including transfer pricing compliances such as Masterfile and local files and drive the gathering of information for Pillar 2, taxes paid and (South African) CFC purposes.
    • Country-by-country reporting: design, implement and monitor CbCR process.
    • Tax Controversy and Rulings: Develop litigation management strategy, manage tax audits/ settlements, liaison with advisors, tax authorities and internal teams. 
    • Tax credits, incentives and grants: Manage any existing R&D grants, identify possibilities for claiming further grants and manage processes.
    • Treasury and Cash Management: Develop cash infusion/ extraction strategies, based on tax and forex rules to optimise group cash flow. 
    • Adapt business response to local legislative changes including Pan-EU initiatives such as Digital Services Taxes, DAC-7 and DAC-6: Perform research on topics affecting tax and cash management, including potential modelling of proposed legislation and other matters impacting the company.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

    • A minimum total of 12-15 years of tax experience;
    • Experience in working in a tax department of a large listed multinational corporation would be ideal;
    • Detail-oriented, organised thinker with strong accounting, analytical and Microsoft Office skills. Experience with OneSource and treasury management or other similar systems will be valued;
    • Must be a team player, self-starter, proactive and results-oriented;
    • Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing effectively.
    • High degree of accuracy and proven ability to meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment;
    • The individual must have the highest standards of integrity, business controls, and business practices;
    • Readiness to travel to other OLX European offices.
