As the Accounting Lead for OLX you will join a highly skilled and collaborative finance team responsible for nearly 10 entities within the scope of the SSC. This role entails comprehensive oversight of accounting operations, financial statement preparation, review of group reporting and coordination of audits. You will play an instrumental role in process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards. This position requires advanced expertise in accounting, exceptional analytical and communication skills and a proactive problem-solving approach. You will closely collaborate with teams across multiple domains, such as RtR, Tax, Legal, Consolidation and Controlling, ensuring seamless integration of accounting strategies with OLX objectives.
Main responsibilities:
Financial reporting / audit management:
• Oversee the month-end close process in close collaboration with RtR, Controlling and Consolidation teams.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliation documentation and provide clear justifications for significant movements or deviations.
• Lead and manage statutory financial statements preparation, working with external advisors when necessary.
• Oversee both statutory and group audits to ensure timely and accurate completion.
Regulatory and compliance:
• Close cooperation with Tax team and external tax advisors to ensure all accounting operations align with legal, tax, and regulatory standards.
• Be familiar with the regulatory changes and proactively incorporate them into internal accounting practices.
Accounting operations:
• Review and assess complex, non-standard transactions across entities in coordination with Consolidation, Controlling, and Tax teams.
• Provide technical guidance to accountants on complex reconciliations and one-off postings, ensuring adherence to best accounting practices.
Process improvement:
• Identify and drive areas for process improvement to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
The profile
We are looking for a highly competent accounting professional with a proven track record of leadership and expertise in financial operations, reporting, and compliance. The successful candidate should exhibit strategic thinking, critical analytical skills, and the ability to lead projects effectively in an international environment.
Experience and Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in audit (must have, Big4 preferably) and controlling / reporting department.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles (including IFRS).
• Understanding of tax legislation and regulatory compliance.
• English - C1 is a must
