The Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our supportive and collaborative team at Numan. In this role, you will contribute directly to building the next generation of our medical platform, improving patient outcomes, and scaling our services. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to design and deliver backend solutions that have a meaningful impact.

You'll be:

    • Designing, implementing, and maintaining the core backend systems powering our platform.
    • Building scalable, reliable, and high-performance APIs for web, mobile, and third-party services.
    • Collaborating with frontend teams and other engineers to integrate APIs and services.
    • Partnering with product managers and designers to understand requirements and propose effective technical solutions.
    • Mentoring and guiding team members, supporting their growth and development.
    • Refactoring and enhancing existing systems, ensuring maintainable, testable, and high-quality code.
    • Contributing to team culture, suggesting improvements and participating in recruitment efforts.

We’re looking for someone who:

    • Strong experience with Python/Django or Ruby on Rails. 
    • Proven ability in designing and developing scalable web APIs. Familiarity with relational (PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases.
    • Careful attention to system health, observability, monitoring, and debugging.
    • Comfort working in an agile environment and taking ownership of projects.
    • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
    • Enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
    • Commitment to mentoring and supporting team members in their professional development.
