Mintec is seeking an ambitious Market Researcher to join our Price Reporting & Editorial Team. The Market Researcher will be responsible for closely monitoring market and industry trends on specific protein markets. This position will provide support to our Market Reporters with the timely, accurate, objective findings in daily reports, preparation of detailed analysis, and contributions to content development. The Market Researcher will specialize in the compilation and analysis of data market research, reporting, and the maintenance of data sets. As employee development is essential, responsibilities and job function may expand and evolve proportionate to the employer’s needs. You will need to be highly numerate with excellent analytical and communication skills and enjoy interaction with traders, producers and manufacturers in the agricultural commodity value chain. The market reporter will work closely with other members of the global team to shape Mintec’s coverage of price assessments and market information.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the assessment a set number of proprietary prices and grow the number of companies participating in the assessments process to expand Mintec’s position as the leading food-commodity PRA.
- Publish market analysis, commentaries (webinars, videos) and news relevant to the covered markets on a scheduled and ad hoc basis
- Maintain and grow a diverse contact base of data submitters, to ensure the robustness of Mintec’s price assessments
- Assist in the publishing of proprietary prices and market coverage to an agreed schedule.
- Generate content for webinars, videos and podcasts on the covered markets to an agreed schedule and on an ad-hoc basis.
- Develop working knowledge of the fundamentals, supply chain and of key participants in the commodity markets.
- Assist in the handling of questions from contacts, clients, and the stakeholders about the dynamics of covered markets, seeking guidance from your manager when inquiries are sensitive, to make our processes and judgement transparent to the market.
- IOSCO accreditation: Ensure that Mintec passes its IOSCO accreditation by meeting Mintec’s pricing and editorial standards
- Build your reputation by sharing your content and analysis according to the goals of the organization.
Skills & Qualifications
- Educated to degree
- Working knowledge of economics, finance, and the agriculture value chain.
- Experience of working independently, with a self-starter attitude that is well-served in growing and maintaining a network of industry contacts for market knowledge and price collection.
- An understanding of what impacts physical commodity prices, with some history of performing fundamentals analysis and report-writing, as well as a knowledge of trade flows and agrifood value chains.
- Highly numerate with a keen eye for detail; very comfortable using MS Excel as well as performing various types of data analysis.
- Understanding of hedging and financial risk management of commodities would be considered a plus.
- Ability to present complex topics clearly and concisely to groups of any size.
- Ability to travel when required
- Can adapt to tight and changing deadlines, occasionally requiring irregular working hours
- Resilient and able to persevere through setbacks
- Business-level English is a must
- Business-level fluency in additional European languages would be considered a plus.
