About our Search Backend Team

At Kiwi.com, our Search Backend team is the driving force in connecting travellers with their perfect flights. We combine advanced algorithms and extensive travel data to deliver seamless search results and innovative features, including our signature Virtual Interlining product and other travel hacks. What you will do

    • As the leader of a dynamic team of Engineers, you will be entrusted with guiding your team’s overall growth, development, and success in projects mainly using Python & GoLang.
    • You will be responsible for the holistic delivery of projects within your team’s scope, offering continuous coaching, mentoring, and effective problem-solving.
    • You’ll support our Engineers in enhancing their skills and experiences while fostering strong, collaborative relationships within your team.
    • You will prioritise features and technical aspects that your teams engage with, and create an inclusive overall feature map of search backend engineering.
    • As a player-coach, you’ll be tasked with shaping the high-level technical vision across your teams, while actively participating in product architecture and technical solution design.
    • Engage actively with our product management and operations teams on agile processes and product roadmaps.
    • You’ll use your managerial expertise to act as a point of contact for cross-team issue resolution, and establish thoughtful policies when required.

What you will need

    • You are an experienced leader, with extensive experience guiding and nurturing technology teams to successfully deliver product and business outcomes.
    • You excel in stakeholder management, with a proven ability to foster and sustain trusting relationships with a diverse range of business and technical stakeholders.
    • Your strong problem-solving abilities and data-driven analytical skills allow you to troubleshoot issues, analyze processes, engage with senior stakeholders, and support the business in making informed, strategic decisions.
    • You are highly adept at working with KPIs, data metrics, and prioritisation frameworks.
    • You possess a deep understanding of software design patterns, SQL and no-SQL databases, debugging, monitoring, containerization, testing, git, CI/CD, and networking.
    • You have strategic thinking skills, offering a comprehensive perspective and strong business acumen.
    • Your innovative and agile approach fosters an environment that encourages high performance and collaboration.
    • You are fluent in English and have clear and effective communication skills.
