We are hiring a Software Developer to join a cross-functional team of high performing developers, quality engineers and designers responsible for enhancing and maintaining our flagship product.  You will work in all areas of our stack, which includes working on the Clojure web server, backend data processing services, web front-end, Go components, as well as our platform API.  We use PostgreSQL to store our data and don’t hide SQL behind big frameworks. The application (SaaS) is offered in AWS as well as on premises and we leverage several popular technologies such as RabbitMQ, Zookeeper, ElasticSearch and Docker. 

Kira has built a powerful tool relied upon by some of the world’s largest professional service firms and corporations. We are now aiming to take the application to the next level through modern design practices and innovation while continuing to deliver new value to our users. In this role you will leverage your technical expertise to help us accomplish this goal.  You will make serious software and have fun doing it. We strive to constantly learn, question the crowd, push the boundaries of existing technology, and solve difficult problems. Our team is highly collaborative and are willing to go the extra mile for each other. 

This is currently a remote role since we have been working from home due to Covid-19. We expect our office to open up eventually however this role can be remote, in-house or a little of both.

What You Will Be Doing

    • Developing new features, troubleshooting and improving existing ones, and participating in tech debt efforts that aim to improve the product as well as the development experience
    • Writing automated tests to ensure your code functions as desired
    • Working closely with our design team in our design driven development style, helping our designers dream up solutions to user problems that astonish and delight
    • Helping improve your and other’s code during code review

What You Bring

    • Demonstrated software development experience preferably with a functional language. Bonus if you already know Clojure or Go
    • Full-stack development experience, possibly with a bias towards either front-end or backend development
    • React and Javascript
    • Unit testing experience
    • RESTful API use, implementation, or design
    • Experience with a relational data store, PostgreSQL is a bonus

Juliano Viana - Juliano came to Kira Systems in 2019 from Brazil after spending a few years in England working at various startups. Juliano is an experienced Machine Learning developer and Leader. Heidi Mok - Heidi is a Senior Product Designer who joined Kira in October 2018. She started her career in Design back in 2009 working on various projects for a design consultancy. Matthew Darling - Matthew joined Kira in 2017 as a Software Developer, and became a Development Lead in 2019. A Clojure enthusiast since 2014, he leads a highly product-focused team that seeks to address user experience debt in equal measure with technical debt.

Jenarth Jegatheeswaran - Jenarth is an Intermediate Quality Engineering Specialist and has been a Kiran for about two years.
