We’re excited to welcome an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join Moorview Vets in Backworth as part of our progressive, high-quality first opinion team. You’ll be joining a well-equipped, multi-site practice delivering excellent standards of care, with a varied and rewarding caseload supported by strong clinical backup. The role also offers genuine flexibility, allowing you to shape your working week around your clinical interests and career goals.

Moorview Vets is a high-quality first opinion, multi-site practice operating across five sites, including a main hospital, consult-only branches, and a dedicated dental facility. With modern facilities and advanced diagnostic capabilities, we are able to deliver exceptional standards of care across a broad and varied caseload.

Our practice includes:

*A multi-site team working across hospital and branch settings
*Advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities including CT, digital radiography, dental imaging, laparoscopy, endoscopy, and Doppler ultrasound
*Visiting orthopaedic specialists supporting advanced surgical work
*Strong links with Moorview Referral Centre, with opportunities for CPD and collaborative case management
*A highly skilled clinical team including certificate holders in medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, and cardiology
*Nurses with additional ECC qualifications and specialist clinical interests
*Clinicians managing ophthalmology and rabbit referral caseloads in-house
*A collaborative culture with regular case discussion and shared learning encouraged across all levels

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, you will deliver high-quality clinical care across a varied and rewarding first opinion caseload, working within a highly skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include:

*Managing consultations, diagnostics, and treatment plans across a varied caseload
*Performing routine surgical procedures and contributing to advanced case work-ups
*Working collaboratively across a multi-site practice with strong clinical support
*Engaging in case discussions and contributing to clinical decision-making
*Supporting continuity of care across hospital and branch sites
*Developing your own clinical interests within a supportive environment

Working pattern:

*Full-time role: 40 hours per week over 4 days
*1 in 6 Saturday rota (within contracted hours)
*No out-of-hours commitment
*Flexible and part-time working options available
*Role can be tailored to support individual clinical interests

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You are an experienced and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working in a collaborative, high-quality clinical environment and is committed to delivering excellent patient and client care. You’ll bring:

*A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
*Experience in small animal first opinion practice with confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
*Strong communication and teamwork skills within a multi-site or collaborative setting
*A proactive approach to developing clinical skills and interests
*The ability to contribute to case discussions and clinical decision-making
*A positive, supportive, and professional approach to veterinary practice
