Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal
Salary up to £65,000 DOE, relocation allowance up to £5,000 and welcome bonus up to £5,000
Plymouth Vets is a modern, purpose-built 24/7 hospital looking for an engaged Veterinary Surgeon to join our welcoming and progressive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where case continuity, teamwork and high clinical standards are at the core of everything we do.
As a dedicated small animal hospital, we see a wide range of cases from routine consultations through to emergency and critical care. With in-house expertise in exotics, our caseload also includes more unusual patients (including the occasional monkey).
You’ll enjoy a balanced mix of consultations and surgery, with genuine opportunities to develop your clinical interests. As a referral-accepting hospital, you’ll have the satisfaction of managing cases from start to finish.
You’ll have access to excellent facilities including digital and dental X-ray, CT, laparoscopy, endoscopy, advanced imaging and a fully equipped in-house laboratory.
We accept referrals locally and provide out-of-hours emergency and critical care for surrounding practices, including Vets4Pets and the PDSA, supported by a dedicated OOH team at our Derriford Hospital.
Our main site is a newly built hospital, supported by three branch surgeries, giving you variety across sites. Facilities include seven consult rooms, three theatres (including a dedicated orthopaedic theatre), a dental suite, CT and imaging rooms, five species-specific wards plus isolation, and a spacious prep area.
You’ll join a collaborative team of 14 vets, supported by 25 RVNs and SVNs and a dedicated client care team. With certificate holders across exotics, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery and diagnostics plus visiting specialists in cardiology and ophthalmology, there’s a strong culture of learning and development. Certificate support is actively encouraged.
IVC Evidensia is the UK and Europe’s leading veterinary care group, made up of over 900 practices and referral hospitals, united by a shared purpose of happier animals, happier owners.
