Hillman Vets, part of the inspiring vet care network, is recruiting!

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Due to two of our vets returning home to Spain for family reasons, we’re on the lookout for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our established team on a permanent basis. If you are looking to specialise, we can provide that opportunity, whether you would like to study for a certificate or offer specialist services or treatments. We have varied surgical and medical caseloads where you will have clinical freedom to follow your own cases with regular opportunities for operating. This role will be split between our Litchfield and Brownhills sites and will require periods of sole charge working.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

Work life balance that actually works

Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. We’re happy to offer flexibility to both part- & full-time applications. A typical full-time role would involve covering 36.75 hours per week, over 4 weekdays (09:00 – 19:00). There’s also 1:5 Saturdays (09:00 – 12:30). There’s no out of hours or on call required with this role.

Who are we?

Hillman Vets are a group that’s composed of 6 sites, with practices in Lichfield, Brownhills, Cannock, Arboretum, Great Barr and Kingstanding. Our clinical team is composed of 9 FTE vets, along with 14 RVNs FTE. We have all the kit that you’d come to expect, including: digital x-ray, ultrasonography, dental machine, doppler blood pressure, laparoscopic bitch spays, nurse led laser therapy and phovia lamp consults.

Don't just take our word for it

"I’ve spent the last seven years growing with this veterinary group, and it’s been an incredible journey. If I had to pick the best part of working here, it would hands-down be the people. Whether you’re a vet or a nurse, there is a shared sense of purpose and a 'we’re in this together' attitude that is hard to find, a really dedicated team and we take care of each other. We get to treat a huge variety of small animals and build relationships with a fantastic range of clients. But beyond the clinical side, I’ve always felt 'seen' by our leadership team. They are incredibly understanding of the pressures we face and are always there to offer support when it's needed most.
It’s a workplace that feels like a community." - Alex, vet

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working at Hillman Vets for nearly eight years, having started my journey here as a new graduate. The day-to-day support I have received has been phenomenal, and I am incredibly grateful for the continuous investment in my career development, which allowed me to complete my postgraduate certificate and participate in the Artemis leadership course. Coming to work at the Lichfield branch truly feels like being with family; everyone is so genuinely kind, and the close relationships we share make it a wonderful and supportive place to work." - Alberto, our departing vet
