Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Cinderford, Gloucestershire, England
Primary Care - Vet Surgeon – Small Animal /
Sundean Veterinary Group, Forest of Dean [1020] /
On-site

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet looking to build confidence and depth in general practice, with a strong emphasis on consultations, continuity of care, and medical case development. The role would suit a vet with some post-graduate experience in first-opinion practice.

Sundean Vets is a well-established, multi-branch small animal practice with sites in Cinderford, Lydney and Hartpury. We are proud of our collaborative, family culture and our commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate veterinary care.

Practice Highlights

We have a strong and stable clinical team comprising:

*6 experienced veterinary surgeons
*8 skilled and supportive nursing colleagues
*Within the vet team, we benefit from a wide range of clinical interests and advanced training, including:
*Certificate in Small Animal Dentistry
*Certificate in Diagnostic Imaging
*Certificate in Small Animal Medicine
*A colleague nearing completion of a Surgical Certificate

This breadth of experience allows excellent case discussion, informal mentoring, and strong clinical support across both routine and complex cases.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

You can expect:

*A predominantly consultation-led workload, with opportunities to follow cases through diagnostics and treatment planning
*A supportive environment for developing medical thinking and clinical decision-making
*A varied caseload across two well-equipped branches
*We value continuity of care and collaborative case management, with access to experienced colleagues throughout the day.

Working Pattern

*Approximately 32 hours per week
*A structured and predictable rota with a strong emphasis on work-life balance
*Time split across our Cinderford (70%) and Lydney branches (30%)
*Shared weekend rota: approximately 1 in 6 Saturday mornings (9am–1pm), ran from the Lydney branch, evenly distributed across the vet team
*No out-of-hours requirements, supporting a strong focus on work-life balance.
