Elm Vets has been caring for pets and their owners across Plymouth for more than a century, and we're now looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to become part of our friendly, experienced and supportive team. With three well-established sites across the city, this role offers the opportunity to enjoy a varied caseload, work alongside a collaborative team and gain exposure to a broad range of medical and surgical cases.

 

As a dedicated small animal practice, we see a diverse mix of patients and conditions, making every week both interesting and rewarding. This position is based around a three-day working week, including one dedicated surgical day, with the remainder focused on consultations, diagnostics and medical case management.

You'll be joining a welcoming team of Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and support staff who are passionate about continuous development and creating a supportive working environment.

 

How You’ll Make a Difference

 

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

 

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

 

Working Pattern

 
* 30 hours per week across 3 days
* Working hours 8:30am–7:00pm
* One dedicated surgical day each week
* 1 in 6 Saturday mornings
* Saturday shifts are consult-only and sole charge, with support available if needed
* No out-of-hours commitment
* No on-call responsibilities
* Applications from candidates seeking 20+ hours per week welcomed

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:

 
* A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
* Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues

* Professionalism, reliability and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
