Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Barnstaple, Devon, England / South Molton, Devon, England
Primary Care - Vet Surgeon – Small Animal /
Market Veterinary Centre, Barnstaple [1667] /
On-site

Salary up to £60,000 DOE

Market Vets are looking for an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and welcoming team in North Devon. This is a two-site practice, and while you’ll be primarily based in Barnstaple, there will be occasional support needed at the South Molton branch.

This is a small animal role, but as a practice caring for small animals, farms and even local zoos, there’s plenty of opportunity to broaden your experience. Alongside a varied small animal caseload, there is the option to get involved in zoo work for those with an interest.

Your days will offer a great balance of consultations and surgery, with procedures ranging from routine through to ECC work ensuring no two days feel the same. There is also real scope to follow your own clinical interests.

The practice is fully equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, dental radiography, therapeutic K-laser and multiparameter monitoring in theatre. Community is a big part of life at Market Vets. The team regularly run pop-up clinics every fortnight in Torrington and Lynton, helping to make veterinary care accessible across North Devon.

You’ll be joining a highly supportive team of 12 vets and 13 RVNs, alongside a dedicated client care team and Practice Director. With a certificate holder in exotics already in the team, and a wide range of interests including orthopaedics, dentistry and farm work, this is a great environment to learn and develop. Support for further study or certificates is actively encouraged.
