Flexible Part-Time Veterinary Role in the Heart of Kerry
We are open to considering candidates with a range of experience levels, provided they are confident working within a first-opinion small animal environment. Due to the nature of the role and the size of our team, this position would be best suited to a vet who is comfortable working independently and managing routine medical and surgical cases.
A Flexible Role Built Around the Right Candidate
We recognise that flexibility means different things to different people. The exact working pattern can be tailored to suit the successful candidate and may accommodate family commitments, portfolio careers, additional professional interests, or a preference for reduced hours.
While there is flexibility around weekday scheduling, participation in our Saturday rota is an essential part of the role and is not negotiable. Weekend responsibilities are shared fairly across the team, and the successful candidate will be expected to work Saturdays as part of a rotating roster.
There are no out-of-hours requirements, no Sunday work, and no Bank Holiday commitments, helping to support a healthy work-life balance.
An Established Practice with Modern Facilities
Founded in 1983, AllCare Veterinary Centre has been serving the pets and owners of Killarney and the surrounding area for more than four decades. We have built a strong reputation for providing high-quality veterinary care and developing lasting relationships with our clients.
The practice is well equipped with modern facilities including laparoscopic surgery, orthopaedic surgical equipment, digital radiography, in-house laboratory analysers, and dental facilities. This allows us to deliver a high standard of clinical care while supporting a varied and interesting caseload.
Join a Close-Knit Team
Our practice benefits from a welcoming and supportive team environment. You will work alongside an experienced team consisting of one veterinary surgeon, three veterinary nurses, and a dedicated practice manager.
We value teamwork, open communication, and delivering excellent patient care. Every member of the team plays an important role in maintaining the strong reputation we have built within the local community.
Life in Killarney
Located in one of Ireland's most scenic regions, Killarney offers an exceptional quality of life. With its beautiful lakes, mountains, national park, and vibrant town centre, it is an ideal location for those who enjoy outdoor activities and a strong sense of community.
Whether you already live locally or are considering a move to the south-west, Killarney provides the perfect balance of lifestyle and career opportunity.
About You
We are looking for a veterinary surgeon who enjoys working in a busy first-opinion small animal practice and takes pride in delivering excellent care to both patients and clients.
Applicants must be registered, or eligible to register, with the Veterinary Council of Ireland and have the right to work in Ireland.
You should be confident with routine consultations, diagnostics, and routine surgery, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to high clinical standards are essential.
As this is a small team environment without a formal graduate training structure or dedicated mentorship programme, the role is most suited to a vet with some practical experience who is ready to contribute confidently from day one.
