Wirral Vets, Upton Veterinary Clinic [1497] /
On-site
At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Here at Wirral Vets, we have an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team across our Upton and Seaview branches. We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident managing routine cases and surgery, while also enjoying more complex procedures and supporting the charity work we undertake within the local community.

Our purpose-built Upton practice opened in 2017 and provides a spacious, modern and highly functional working environment with four air-conditioned consulting rooms.

Facilities include a large air-conditioned operating suite, dedicated X-ray and hydrotherapy suites, separate cat and dog wards, a spacious prep room and a dedicated pharmacy.

We are equipped with a comprehensive range of diagnostic and surgical equipment including an in-house IDEXX laboratory (Lasercyte, Catalyst, Sedivue and Imagyst AI Cytology), digital radiography, dental radiography, Doppler ultrasound, multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring and an extensive range of soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical equipment.

Our Seaview branch is also fully equipped with digital radiography, dental radiography, an IDEXX laboratory and modern anaesthetic equipment, while our third site focuses on routine procedures with access to the wider group's facilities for more advanced cases.

Upstairs at Upton, you'll find a large staff room complete with sofas and a Nespresso machine, alongside dedicated offices, laboratory, isolation and laundry facilities.

Practice Highlights

* Purpose-built main hospital with modern facilities and equipment
* Excellent balance of consultations and surgery
* Opportunity to develop a caseload aligned to your clinical interests
* Full certificate support available
* Advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery caseload
* Significant charity and welfare work in partnership with the local RSPCA

We are a busy first-opinion three-site practice group with a growing and diverse client base. Many clients are insured or keen to pursue advanced diagnostic and treatment options, allowing for thorough medical investigations and rewarding surgical casework.

We also work closely with a local RSPCA branch, undertaking a significant volume of charity work, particularly involving feline patients and welfare cases.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

We would be particularly interested in speaking with Veterinary Surgeons who have an interest in dentistry, as dental procedures form an important part of our caseload, with dedicated dental lists running regularly throughout the week.

We offer an excellent balance between consultations and surgery, ensuring all Veterinary Surgeons have the opportunity to develop and maintain both skillsets.

Consultations are scheduled at 15-minute intervals, with protected breaks throughout the day to allow time for administration, case management and wellbeing.

Working Pattern
